What’s been interesting about the Rockets’ games against the Lakers is that the only game the Rockets lost took place before they implemented their famed small ball approach. The last time the two teams played, the game was nationally-televised on TNT, and took place almost immediately after the Rockets acquired Robert Covington.

I hope James is ready. Russ, too. Heck, everyone from those two down to the end of the bench. I'm certainly ready.

I just got through watching Hoosiers for the umpteenth time. Those kids managed to win the championship against all the odds. They played against better players, bigger players, quicker players, better shooters, more players. Heck, they even had the refs against them in some of the games. Didn't matter. They were on a mission and had the will to win. We saw the same will to win against all the odds in 1995. No team had ever done what we had to do to win that year and we won anyway. Time to do it again.

just saw that the expected eFG% for corner threes generated by Harden is 58.44%, but the team’s actual eFG% on those looks is at 38.71%

bunch of brick layers on this squad as usual

Will the Rockets be ready to actually hit their plethora of wide open looks on a consistent basis?

MDA needs to be ready to actually coach, maximize rotations, make in game and game to game adjustments, and not simply ride the backs of his players

The fact they let hartenstein go tells me there won't be many adjustments if any. I mean there isn't anything different we can really do to change things up with no big. We will always just be small no matter who is out there. At some point we are going to face a big who will abuse us. We might end up with Denver in round one. Jokic will have a field day. He will pick us apart with passes if we try to double. I'm fine with being small most of the time but at some point there will be a stretch where we just need some size to give the other team a different look. It can throw them out of rhythm when they aren't used to a 7'1 guy meeting them in the paint. Maybe Tyson can be that guy if needed but hes just so old I'd rather have those young legs.

Russ and Harden gotta really step it up to another level. I know the stats are there but they gotta step it up big in late game aka close game situations.

im not worried about these two at all. i think the "others" will actually determine how good this team can be. a training camp should help us a lot, maybe more than any other team. i think eric gordon is key. if he can play like the sixth man of the year it is so huge for a team with two former MVPs. they will get all of the attention the others have to get better at reading and reacting and be a little bit more consistent on open looks. if they cant do that its not going to matter what russ and james do. the others will be the difference between being up two or three possessions late, or down.

That have to make plays when it counts and the supporting cast have to hit big shot when needed.
