Grizzlies full blown tank mode, no surprise. would've loved to play them a couple times more again, but nah 4 times in 4 weeks is ideal. SIL
I like Mike Conley a lot and hope he has a full recovery, but don't feel sorry for him at all. He got paid and the Grizzlies aren't relevant with or without him.
Memphis should really blow it up, they're going nowhere with this roster at this point, trade Marc while they have still full control of his future, they should still get good value out of him, than just tank hard and trade Conley next season for whatever they can get, the player is very good imo, but the contract is big and long for a guy injury prone like him.
LOL Grizzlies... $51 million in street clothes. Mike Conley 2017-18: $28,530,608 2018-19: $30,521,115 2019-20: $32,511,623 2020-21: $34,502,132 (ETO) Chandler Parsons 2017-18: $23,112,004 2018-19: $24,107,258 2019-20: $25,102,511 _________________________________________________ https://www.grizzlybearblues.com/20...r-parsons-nba-career-injury-memphis-grizzlies Parsons’ knee injury is nowhere near as dire as Bosh’s situation, but if he can’t go, there’s a chance that the Grizzlies can get Parsons’ money off the salary cap without having to stretch his cap hit over multiple seasons, giving the Grizzlies financial wiggle room in the short-term as well as the long-term. Per the NBA’s labor agreement, a player is considered to have a career-ending injury if: ...it is determined that the player has an injury or illness that (i) prevents him from playing skilled professional basketball at an NBA level for the duration of his career, or (ii) substantially impairs his ability to play skilled professional basketball at an NBA level and is of such severity that continuing to play professional basketball at an NBA level would subject the player to medically unacceptable risk of suffering a life-threatening or permanently disabling injury or illness... If "a doctor that is jointly selected by the league and the players association agree that [Parsons] condition is career ending," the Grizzlies would be able, upon the one-year anniversary of Parsons’ last game, to waive Parsons. This would clear the remaining amount of Parsons’ contract from the Grizzlies books, freeing up almost $24 million per year of cap space. Parsons would still get that money—NBA contracts are guaranteed, after all—but the Grizzlies should recoup some cash from an insurance policy, and their cap would be cleared of Parsons completely. We are a long way from that point. There’s a chance that Parsons is being held out simply because the season is lost and the front office hopes the Grizzlies, after running it back next season, can use Parsons to contribute to another playoff run or two. But if he’s not, there’s at least a light at the end of the tunnel. If Parsons does play, it’s impossible for fans to expect much more than sporadic minutes, a worse fate for the on-court product and a far-worse fate for the Grizzlies cap situation. We’re still far from that point, but at this point it’s at least worth having the discussion and wondering if Parsons’ playing days are over. Any positivity regarding Parsons remaining from the start of the season is gone. Now, the sad truth is that the Grizzlies may be better off if Parsons never sees the court again rather than the cameos that have become the hallmark of his time in Memphis. _________________________________________________
Looks like Chandler was the death of that squad. They should use Gasol to unload Parsons' deal, but then they might be better off just eating it and getting as many young players/draft assets as possible. I agree though... They need a full rebuild. Cleveland, with the Brooklyn pick and big contracts to match, has to at least be inquiring.
And we b**** about Ryno. I get it, Murray paid market rate in an elevated market but those above are deathly. Gordon's rate was excellent, honestly, he is worth the long term sub full value Reddick at say 18-20(-3 to 5 of JJ). No @DreamShook Ryno love, just looking at economics. SIL
If they bring in Hinke now, who's to say The Process wouldn't jump to the West and play with a couple of other top 3 draft picks after 4 years...
this is a great season for Memphis tbh, they are in desperate need of a high level draft prospect that they can build around for the future...the Gasol-Conley era is done they better hit on this pick and not pull a Thabeet Imagine if they had drafted Harden back then...a Conley/Harden/Gay/Zbo/Gasol starting 5 would’ve been tough
Parsons' recruiting talents are required for them to attract top tier free agents, so I doubt they move him.
Parsons is successfully imploding our division opponents. That second round pick has paid off better than expected for the Rockets.
