I just noticed that there was no thread dedicated to memorial day. that is kind of a shame. I spent the day with my Grandpa who fought in WWII. I didnt watch the parade my town puts on, but time with pop pop is far more valuable than watching a bunch of drunk volunteer fireman in the early morning who are hardly concerned with the reason they have off work. did you take a moment to thank the men and women for the contributions they have made in securing your personal freedoms. please dont forget the women involved in our nations defence either. my grandma was one of those rosie the riviter types throughout the war while my grandpa ran a factory building minesweepers untill he felt that he couldnt stay away from the front lines much longer and enlisted in the navy. PEACE
Man, my church recognized me as a veteran. It was kind of embarrassing because I'm only a veteran by a technicality. My reserve unit sent me on my active duty training during the time Desert Storm was going on. Then when it ended while I was still training, they awarded anyone who was active duty at the time with that red and yellow medal. Great timing, but I don't consider myself a veteran. It was funny standing with a bunch of old dudes, though
