100% correct. Which is a GOOD thing. If at the minimum we get Gordon like production from Melo, starting or off the bench, then we are a stronger team. The critics here seem to be caught up on how Melo's not the player he once was. Who tf cares? All we need is for him to give us that push & take less pressure off James & CP. He will get wide open looks like never before here
You can name a lot of great nba players who never won anything that doesn’t make them bad players. I’m willing to give Melo a chance on this team before I judge him.
If he can give Gordon like production I'll be surprised and THRILLED. The past 4 years Gordon has dwarfed Melo in EFG% (because of 3s) and offensive rating. That doesn't account for defense. If at the end of the season we will as good or better about Melo than Gordon in the lineup I'll be ecstatic.
But how is he going to score as 4th option and mostly off the bench? Chucking up 18 shots per game is a miracle. I think we get another Eric Gordon. That be realistic.
Oh I agree. I just used "Gordon" as a template for the type of player Melo is today vis-a-vi what he once was as an All Star. I mean, Gordon has had plenty of nights where his shooting is way off and he hasn't been all that effective. But he also has a big enough ceiling to have big nights as well. Basically up and down. I see Melo in the same range.
As long as Melo doesn't expect 10 shots just to get warmed up ala Tmac, we are good. We are good enough to survive a off shooting night from Melo as long as it's not 2 for 18.
Lol. There are more weed stores in my town than there are Starbucks and I'm pretty familiar with the offerings.
Ariza averaged 10 shots per 6+ being 3s..... I expect Carmelo to average at least 10 -13 shots a game with about 5-6 ft atts per offensively that's gonna make a huge difference a as opposed to those shots coming from ariza....
Sorry but what he did as a college freshman has no bearing on anything. And he has refused thus far (mainly with the Thunder) to accept a role in the NBA like the one he had with the Olympic team, so that's not entirely relevant either. Would I like him on the Rockets if he did take that Olympic type role, and willingly took a backseat to Harden and Paul? Yes, because we need more help. But his actions with the Thunder as well as everything he's said in the media make it obvious he's extremely reluctant to accept an Olympic style role in the NBA- he still views himself as a ball dominant superstar in the league. It's a little troubling. Like I said, I still wouldn't mind him on the Rockets because we need more talent. I would just be a little anxious to see how he'd end up fitting in.
Exactly. People keep saying the failure of the Thunder to be as great as everyone predicted last year was somehow Melo's fault because he refused to sacrifice his game for the team. I can think of a former MVP on that team who didn't alter his game at all. Having a dunce for a coach didn't help, either.
You're talking to a guy whose user name is from Breaking Bad. Sounds to me like he got his hands on some blue meth.
Having an overmatched coach didn't help, either. BD is fine - - at the college level; not so aces where the big boys play.
