C'mon, implode already OKC! I can't wait until they start throwing all of the poor bench guys under the bus. Russ doesn't have enough help!!!
They need to run a movement-based offense that can generate points. Ideally, all players should know their purpose on the floor each possession, particularly during crunch time. If their big 3 don't figure out how to play off each other, they are doomed to fail. The problem is none of them have ever shown the ability to be consistently effective off the ball. It goes against ingrained instincts. IMO, Melo should come off the bench and dominate their 2nd unit. That is where he belongs in today's NBA, particularly on a team like OKC with weak bench scoring. Start Jerami Grant and let Melo and Felton wreak havoc on opponents 2nd units. Our very own James Harden was really good at this his last 2 years at OKC. But we all know Melo ain't about to suck it up and admit he's inferior to WB and PG. What's truly hilarious right now is Steven Adams has the highest PER of any OKC player.
"He didn't like the organization or playing for Billy Donovan. His roster wasn't that good. It was just Melo, Paul George, and Russ. THEY AIN'T EVEN THAT GOOD Y'ALL"- A former NYC/DENVER/ SYRACUE player told me.
It used to be: "Westbrook needs more help." Now, it's: "Westbrook needs more help, and Melo needs more help, and PG needs more help."
Not going to happen with their head coach, and would be hard to integrate that type of thing at this point with the current players on the roster. You will see a lot of ISO's, some kick outs and them relying on their sheer athleticism to get rebounds and put backs. They will still win their fair share of games. OKC can't do that as long as Grant isn't hitting his threes. They already have Roberson in the starting line up. Rolling out Grant/Roberson/Adams would destroy their offensive spacing. He can be effective in the right situation. He would even thrive in OKC if they had better perimeter defenders and ball movement. Adams is vastly underrated. He is an exceptional defender and is largely responsible for the OKC defense being as good as it is. I will take him over Capela every day of the week. Ultimately OKC will go on a run and some what straighten it all out. Their defense will help them go a long way. At some point they may want to embrace grind it out basketball.[/QUOTE]
