Small sample size. It's been two games. Let's give him a couple of months to get accustomed to what we do.
Well at least he was +23 yesterday. I think he's learning what his older body can do. He can't make some of the tough shots he used to
Yeah, was his best when he was Braids Melo. Hoodie is just marketing gag to get him back in everyone's good graces.
So true. Wide open and receives a pass and he feels the need to dribble and jab step before he shoots.
I don't understand why Melo's minutes aren't mirroring CP3's minutes. Melo on the floor with Harden's unit is useless. He won't get the ball enough to get in rhythm. I am confused by the rotations. Hell, Gordon isn't even the 6th man anymore. He is 2nd off the bench to Melo. Why mess with Gordon's 6th man title? Now he's struggling too.
It seems that youre describing rhyno ryan anderson. So we replaced him with me70 and the same problem still persist?
The thing I like most about Melo right now is it looks like he is legitimately buying into his role. He doesn't pout around when he doesn't get the ball (even when open). He really isn't a play-off-the ball kind of player, so it's a big adjustment for him. Hopefully he continues to get comfortable and becomes more decisive on shoot, pass, or drive.
I’m not jumping to conclusions yet. Melo has to change his game playing with CP3 and Harden. I recall Harden telling Melo last night that he wants to get him open. Melo, for most of his career, has been an isolation scorer. It didn’t matter if he was open or not, he got the ball. The Rockets just need to work on ways to get Melo open and Melo needs to work on getting open. In other words, they still have things to figure out.
Agreed. It'd be good to see him knock down a few more shots, but he's seemed to embrace being a "4" with this team. I've been generally pleased with his effort level on defense, and he helped clean up the glass.
Some of y'all are ****ing ridiculous. It's been 2 games, and his head is probably spinning from playing in a new system where he's wide ****ing open. The hesitation comes from overthinking, and making sure the shot is the right decision. Give him some time for Christ's sake. Also, to call him washed up after he rebounded hard, played defense, and was in the right position most of the night doing positive things is insulting. Not everything is about scoring. He was a +13 for a reason. He's shown great body language, was in there pulling people away from the fight, and has accepted his role here without a peep. He's earned our trust.
There's no need to say he's 'washed up' because it's only been 2 GAMES. There are 80 games left in the season and let me remind everyone we got MELO for VET. MINIMUM. RELAX.
Anthony was a team-high +23 last night in just 29 minutes, which goes with what I observed last night. He definitely didn't seem to be having a bad game in my opinion. I didn't make a complaint about him in the game thread. I do not like his signing, but he was...fine tbh. Harden otoh was a defensive disaster. THAT caught my eye more than anything.
There were not a lot of quality looks for Melo in this game. He missed that one 3 as a trailer at the top and that sucked, but otherwise, it was an odd game. There was even a ESPN MIC series where we heard Harden saying "I'm trying to get you some looks." Takeaway in this game is, even though it was a tough Melo scoring night with looks and shots, he was STILL ENGAGED and rebounded and was a PLUS out there. That is a sign of doing what needs to be done. He could of just "shut down" out of frustration. He did not.
