Don't have any respect for her. She was the face of a propaganda network. Not sure how she expects to be taken seriously as a member of the media, blatant racism aside.
Some folks said this is PC gone wild, but the reality is that it is super offensive to African Americans. They have been beaten down and screwed over for centuries, and now they are saying enough, we should honor that, and understand what they are saying. She clearly said some insensitive stuff, and should be held accountable - kind of missing a chance to educate her though, IMHO. A suspension with counselling would have been better. DD
You can take the cold / uppity / privileged racist outta Fox News, but you can’t take the cold / uppity / privileged racist core outta M Kelly. This only underscores the stupidity of NBC for hiring her in the first place, made more stupid, when one considers that NBC was willing not to renew the contract of competent / warm Norah O'Donnell, who is doing a stellar job at CBS at < half of M Kelly's salary, vivacious Erica Hill who is doing well at CNN & HLN at an even lower salary
I don’t care for Kelly but did you guys watch the entire clip? It’s kind of silly if you can’t even have the discussion about what is offensive.
Her panel kinda laughed it off. I don't think they or the producers wanted to get into that teaching moment in what's supposed to be a fluffy show about gossip, house hacks and other worthless morning banter.
Because I’m sure there is at least one lurker wondering why it’s offensive https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minstrel_show
Did you watch the clip where she said when I was a kid that was okay? She also doesn't know how blackface got racist? Dipshit with Jenna Bush and Melissa Rivers, obviously none of them know the first thing about the history of blackface and apparently neither do you. Maybe go watch some youtube videos and educate yourself.
This is how I deal with a lot of white people. There are good/regular white people out there that are genuinely ignorant of the other cultures around them. Being white lets you just roll through the world without having to be aware of this stuff as ridiculous as it may seem to all of us here. Outrage is much easier than discussion. Megyn Kelly sucks and she has a history of this bullsh-t, but I have no doubt there are a ton of white people out there that don't get the big deal about blackface that doesn't include black makeup and red exaggerated lips that would benefit from a discussion. Stuff like this is hardly taught in schools. America's awful racial history is being wiped from history books.
you need to stop lying. Jacob Soboroff. "if ur gonna to do it, u've got to be able to take it (criticism that comes w it)" Mellissa River " what ever happened to polite society ? if ur thinking "if this racist ?", it probably it Jenna Bush Hager " there is a limit"
NBC has been looking for a way to get out of that ridiculous contact they offered her ... Merry Christmas.
NBC News, meteorologist / host Al Roker and news anchor Craig Melvin sharply rebuked Kelly’s comments on Tuesday, when she asked why white people dressing up in blackface was inappropriate. Kelly has since sent an internal memo apologizing for the comments, but Roker said that apology fell short of what was required. “The fact is, while she apologized to the staff, she owes a bigger apology to folks of color around the country,” “This is a history going back to the 1830s—minstrel shows to demean and denigrate a race wasn’t right. I’m old enough to know have lived through Amos ‘n’ Andy, where you had white people in blackface playing two black characters, just magnifying the worst stereotypes about black people—and that’s what the problem is. That’s what the issue is.” Melvin took things even further. “There was some criticism yesterday online that this was political correctness run amok. That’s silly and it’s disingenuous and it’s just as ignorant and racist as the statement itself,” said Melvin. “In addition to her being a colleague, she’s a friend. She said something stupid. She said something indefensible.” http://fortune.com/2018/10/24/al-roker-megyn-kelly-apology/
