I guess I’m jsut a fan of consummate professionals. The way this team is built, we might need to slide hide him off the bench or need him to start. If that role changes up periodically, he needs to accept that and do his best to be productive.

I don't think sports works that way. I don't think EG's ability to find role comfort immediately has anything to do with his consummate professionalism. It's a matter of talent and human nature.

If he had #1/#2 type talent, then it shouldn't be a problem for him. He doesn't.

Heck, even Russ is currently struggling to figure out role.

I will not trust EG in a constantly changing role after that Spurs series. He was playing really solid the first 4 games of that series - including 13 for 26 from three - when MDA decided the answer to Nene's injury was for some unknown reason moving EG into the starting lineup, and he proceeded to suck, horribly. He also struggled to adjust to Lou Williams arrival that year.

I've watched him since then as things happen that he has to adjust to. It's a bit tough because, again, he's not a #1/#2 so is prone to up and down moments anyway, but I've always noticed he's prone to a certain level of uncomfortable-ness at times when he isn't sure his exact role.

Also, of note, his role is one that can change drastically. Next to Harden and Russ his role is much different than it might be in times when perhaps Harden and Russ are both sitting (or last few years, Harden and CP3).

I don't fault him for having some difficulty with it. It's his talent level.

House starting and Gordon off the bench is the one thing that DID look good in this Spurs game.

    Hope MDA sticks with it!

Cannot call it a success yet, Gordon is a good defender but against upper echelon SFs he cannot cut it so I definitely prefer House starting.
