Guys, I haven't seen much said about this but as you've heard Matt Thomas will be our new PA Announcer and John Paul Stevenson will be going back to Memphis. Nothing against Matt, but I thought John Paul was pretty good. Also, that's a tough deal to be a PA Announcer for Home games, then jump on the plane to go radio the next night. Are we trying to save money or something? What are your thoughts about this?
I love matt, looking forward to hearing his sexy ass voice on the PA at home and doing pbp on the road. Hopefully this doesn't mean we're spending the next decade in the lottery tho...
Was a little weirded out by your response, then I realized you are a woman, so now it's normal. Also, I do not know much about Matt Thomas.
I love Matt Thomas especially on 790. But I'm gonna really miss John Paul, always thought he was unique compared to your run of the mill PA announcer. With all this cleaning house by Les, I really don't understand the purpose of all these reassignments and retirements (Bill Worrell, Clutch the Bear, John Paul Stephenson, Joel Blank, etc). If Les is trying for a different fan experience, I think the first thing he should do is new team jerseys!! I hate beating a dead horse but it's about time, we r due!
I don't know anything for sure, but I have a feeling a new design is being phased in slowly. Possibly an updated version of the current uniforms that resembles the black alternates (the red on the court has been observed to be the same shade as the red on those). Probably want to get a gauge for how these black alternates fare this season as far as popularity and sales go.
First post since the "The New Era" of Clutchfans for me. We all knew this, but I thought JP was staying on with the team?
He's with the Grizzlies. http://www.nba.com/grizzlies/news/john-paul-stevenson-named-pa-announcer-160922/
JP was kind of annoying and distracting in my opinion.. I like it when the announcers keep it short and simple e.g. James Harden! instead of Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaameessssssss Haaaaaaarrrrrrrdeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnn...
Agree, too obnoxious. I much preferred the dude who was here the first three years at Toyota Center (don't remember his name).
