"I didn't want to enter free agency in the first place, but it was a one-way door given to me by the GM to leave Houston," Williams told KRIV-TV in Houston. "I want the fans there to know entering free agency was not my decision." That was a $100 million dollar door. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8...falo-bills-de-says-houston-texans-forced-hand
So, when the Bills cut him to rid themselves of that albatross contract, he'll come crawling back to Houston?
I do. They did the same thing with Winston. They were hard up against the cap. Winston really wanted any kind of offer, and the Texans declined.
He visited one time and signed immediately after FA started. I recall absolutely no effort by Team Mario to negotiate. And according to some, it would now be classless to boo him.
Yes, but he was willing to take a pay cut: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/sh...isk-in-releasing-eric-winston?urn=nfl,wp20455 Here's Winston, via John McClain at chron.com: "Basically, they told me they were up against it (the salary cap) and didn't want to insult me by asking me to take a pay cut," he said. "They said they hated to do it and maybe we could work something out down the road, but, well, I'm just stunned. I didn't want to leave. This just sucks." [...] "I still think the Texans are going to be great. They don't need me to be great. I think they're going to have a big-time team next season, and I'm sorry I'm not going to be part of it."
