Could he not get a better deal from other teams or is this one of those "sign with a contender for no money" kinda deal?

Marcus is a high percentage three point shooter coming to a team heavily reliant on three point shooting. Only for minimum as well? What is not to like about it?

    More please Morey.

Has zero effect on KJ. No MLE was used on Thorton.

    Hypothetical Roster:
    PG:Ty Lawson/Patrick Beverley/Nick Johnson
    SG:James Harden/KJ McDaniels/Marcus Thorton
    SF:Trevor Ariza/Corey Brewer/Sam Dekker
    PF:Donatas Motiejunas/Josh Smith/Montrezl Harrell
    C:Dwight Howard/Clint Capela/Christian Wood

    Not bad!:p

He is a player that can create his own shot and score in bunches. This is exactly the type of player we needed. I didn't know he was a free agent. I would rather have him over Stuckey.

We're risking the roster spot. I'd rather have a guy like Wood who might turn out to produce cheaply for us for years.

It's not a big deal either way, it's just he's been going downhill both in terms of playing and weight control the last few years. Maybe he'll turn out to be Delfino 2.0 and do well in our offense, but I don't care for it.

For the vet minimum this is a great under the radar deal. He plays little defense but we need scoring off the bench and that's what he will bring. Just another good piece off the bench. And yea this prob means Terry is gone

    Beverley | Prigioni (N'gtd) | Johnson
    Harden | Thornton
    Ariza | Brewer | Dekker | Papanikolaou (N'gtd)
    Motiejunas | Jones | Harrell
    Howard | Capela | Dorsey

That's where we are at as of right now. If we can get Smoove back it opens up a ton of avenues to trade for a PG.

Definitely related. Unless we make some trades no room for KJ. ariza, Brewer and Dekker are ahead at the sf spot. Harden, Thornton and NJohnson at the 2. Maybe he can beat out Nick but Thornton is the shooter we need and unless KJ develops one fast he is relegated to bench duty. End of bench.

Morey is not done. Expect a 2 for 1 trade soon. Also Thornton makes Terry somewhat redundant. So he is not likely coming back.

Absolute steal for the Minimum, proven scorer who can create for himself and knockdown the 3 ball...Well done Morey! Now let's bring back JSmoove

I can't believe how heavy we still are with Forwards. Something will certainly give, especially if we retain Smoove. A combo of Forwards will (ideally) be moved for another guard to further balance the roster.

Love the Thornton signing. He's a great shooter from the corner, exactly where we love spotting our off ball guards up. Terrible at defense, but Jet was atrocious in his own right...Thornton could actually be a defensive upgrade!
