Didn't see this posted... In a poll of 248 NBA players, they determined, in order, the top 4 under-rated players as Chauncey Billups, Elton Brand, Chris Bosh, and Gilbert Arenas. .. according to this weeks issue of Sports Illustrated... One can't really disagree, Marbury's name is out there a lot and hasn't done anything + he talks himself up ALOT. Yao, not for anything that he has done or said, but for the fact that he is such an oddity and has a huge following. Stuart
Van Gundy needs to exploit Yao's skills. He's spent 2 1/2 years successfully developing Yao's low post game. Yao is one of the top 5 best low post players in the game. Now, he needs to start running SOME high post too and continue to develop his passing skills along with his face up game, which he does have a very good face up game. Then the final step will be turning Yao loose to be his own QB and figure out where he needs to play given what the defense is trying to do to him. We have got to have more flexibility in our offensive style to take advantage of all Yao's talents and make this team impossible to stop on the offensive end.
How about being one of the top 2 players in his position in the league? 20 and 10? If you can't appreciate this as a fan then you sir are the oddity.
anybody watch Year of the Yao after Inside the NBA last night? i miss the raw emotion of the Steve, Cuttino, Mo Taylor, Boki, Rudy T team. just miss the emotion!
YAO *IS* OVERRATE but hell to 1 billion asain folx he is the best on the planet I mean . . no matter what he is 7'5 and with skillz Jordan was OVERRATED . . Folx would tell you: Me Jordan, Mayor Lee brown and the fat twins on the mopeds could go 51- 31 and would at least goto the 7th game in the Western conference finals so . .being OVERRATE does not mean not good. Yao is a bit overrate. . but NO WHERE NEAR where Stephon is I thought he was suppose to be Magic and Stockton's genetically manipulated clone Rocket River don't worry about this crap
If this season is a bust I think we should do the KG/Yao trade. I love Yao but maybe it's time for a change.
What exactly does KG bring to the game that Yao doesn't? a bit of quickness .. . but TRULY what else? Mental Toughness. . I'm afaid not Rocket River
You make it sound like it's on the table. Has this trade possibility ever, ever, ever been mentioned in the media?
I'm not in favor of trading Yao for Garnett, but you have to be kidding. Rebounding, defense, playmaking, shooting from the perimeter, vocal leadership. Garnett is still one of the great players in the game, who happens to be stuck on a bad team. I'm too much of a fan of Yao's to endorse trading him away, but being completely objective Garnett is a far better player.
If this was so , and the Rockets made it known that Yao Ming was available for such a trade , then all of the other NBA teams would start a bidding war like you have never seen, [Because every team considers that they could do a much better job in developing Yao Ming.]
But regardless of whether KG officially asks for a trade or not, there have been KG trade rumors every year in recent memory. There were rumors of sending him to Chicago for the Baby Bulls and draft picks. Of sending him to Indiana for J. O'neal and filler. And to Dallas for Dirk a few years back. But you never hear about KG for Yao. Besides, since KG makes so much more money than Yao, and Yao's contract is under the base-year compensation rules until late summer of 2007, the trade would be nearly impossible to fit under the cap. We would need to include a bunch of filler contracts into the deal that the T-Wolves wouldn't want. Yes obviously you look at all the options. But I really can't imagine this deal being on the table until Yao's BYC wears off. Besides, your first post made it sound like this would be a done deal already if Les would just pull the trigger, which it most certainly isn't.
