No, he would have been a Rocket if Morey wanted to. Player options are bad bad bad. You only give player options to Super stars. Agents don't give a damn which team their players play for. All they care about is getting the most money.

Those would be very bad moves if we can not get Howard. 20+mil cap space is mainly the result of Lowry trade for cheap, waive of Scolar and let Dragic leave with nothing in return. all were made no sense without finalization.

Its unfortunate Orlando is no hurry to trade Howard. On the bright side if Orlando decides to hold unto to Howard until the trade deadline at least by that time the Rockets will have a decent assessment of our rookies.

How about you stop acting like a **** and realize that the NBA isn't the same as the middle school playground? You shouldn't act like your absurd assumptions are absolute facts. It spreads misinformation and we all get a little dumber.

Hahaha, let them keep DHoward into Feb 2013 and I guarantee they'll get even less than they are getting offered. It's not like Brooklyn/LA are going to magically have assets available at the trade deadline.

I laugh at this report. It would be absolutely stupid of the Magic to wait into training camp, much less 'til Howard is 4 months away from being a free agent.

None of our rookies have even stepped on an NBA floor yet, all 3 of them could very easily end up being career role players.

Call this bluff for sure. Besides the rest, you can't make massive 7 for 3 type trades mid season because of roster limits.
2 month rental price = jack crap

I just hope Morey doesn't give out any of our rookies or Parsons.

If he pulls this out, I think we can surely say that Morey is the best GM in the history of the NBA!

Yes, I keep my hopes high :)

Morey would do the exact same thing were Howard pulling the same crap on his team. He's already shown he doesn't care about driving down the trade value of players (McGrady, Martin, Lowry, Brooks, etc.). Why should the Magic be in a hurry to deal Howard? Houston fans say Howard wouldn't turn down the money to leave Houston but don't acknowledge that Orlando has the same advantage. If the Orlando GM is smart, why wouldn't he take the same gamble Morey is willing to take? Worst case is he has a huge expiring contract, best case is Howard re-signs. Why not wait?

I'm all for waiting. The bottom line is that when push comes to shove, the Rockets assets are locked up for the next few years. Orlando's singular asset (although currently far more valuable) is not. If we wait, we don't lose anything. If they wait, they lose everything. The longer this drags out, they more desperate Orlando will become.

Although a lot could happen between now and February, the Rockets are in a position where their young players are going to be given every opportunity to showcase their abilities. While there's a chance the young guys could struggle, their performance in the summer league indicates that there is a lot to be excited about with this group. While it's unlikely that all four of D-Mo, White, Lamb, and Jones look like future stars in February, I think at least two of them will be off limits by then, unless Howard commits to an extension.

Howard on the other hand is totally volatile. He could very well come out in contract year mode, wanting to prove that he's 100% healthy. More likely is that he comes into camp as a malcontent, surrounded by teammates who already dislike him, and mopes through the season. (I can imagine something similar to Vince Carter as he was trying to play his way out of Toronto, looking like a shell of his former explosive self).

If the young guys play well, Howard may see the chance to be surrounded by a talented young nucleus on a team that has the cap room to add another veteran to the mix at season's end. His view of Houston could change even if he's not here. It likely comes down to whether he wants to go to a place where he can win games, or whether he's more concerned with going to a major market to make more cash on his endorsements.

Meanwhile, by the time February rolls around, Asik will have a chance to show what he can do with starters minutes. My guess is that he puts up more than solid numbers on the defensive end, and his contract starts to look like a bargain. Say what you will about Morey (I still like him), but he's shown a knack for identifying underutilized players that produce when given the chance (Lowry, Dragic, Gortat to name a few). If Asik does the same, he could potentially be a key piece to a potential trade for Howard at the deadline.

Time will tell how things turn out, but I don't think Morey should be in any rush to hand over extra prospects or take on bad contracts. The longer this drags out, the better off things will be for the Rockets.

If the Magic were smart then they would trade him now while his injury and how it will affect him is an unknown. If the Rockets are smart they will wait until the trade deadline so they can see the guy play and know he is 100% or very close to it. We need to be patient.

the only team that NEEDS to trade Dwight Howard is the Orlando Magic. Houston doesn't need him, we'll rebuild. LA Doesn't NEED him, they'll still compete. No other team is stupid enough to sell the farm. Once again, leverage is Morey's. No sense in outbidding ourselves.

Orlando will take Martin, AND a lottery draft pick, and they WILL take diarrhea Morris, and Houston will take only one crappy contract back. They WILL do that and LIKE IT.

Repped! Lol, Morey showed his hand willing to gamble & Hennigan is finally realizing he has the same cards :D Makes sense, if true

The only disadvantage Orlando has is the fans won't be happy & players will be distracted.

Summer League is Summer League and rookies are just rookies and our rookies may end up just being role players. A 7 ft big man with back problems sounds very familiar and we do not know how much more he will be playing on the hardwood. I wouldn't be surprised if he missed half of next season injured.
