I like the idea of spending the MLE

Especially if it helped us grab a real solid rotation Piece.

But who could we have gotten for that 5m a season or whatever it is?

All the guys I see mentioned around here besides looney got a good 2-3m more annually than we could even offer.

Maybe if wrong but I’m not sure at any point this offseason getting a guy for our tax payer MLE would have been a better player than signing a vet for a league minimum deal.

I’m just curious what we maybe missed out on?

If anything they should have tried harder to use the 25% rule on the Russ trade and gotten another high level role player like that.

That might come back to bite us in the ass but I don’t think we missed out on any player for the money we had to offer.

And imo maybe just maybe iggy gets bought out mid season and we can offer him more than other teams because we didn’t use the mle and that can entice him even more than just joining a contender, get another 5m or whatever it is also.

That’s pretty big compared to vet min.

that last part about Iggy is the only good argument for not spending the MLE over the summer... but even then, the chances of that happening are slim, and what's worse is if he gets bought out midseason and we have to wait instead of signing someone who can help us win games from day 1.

expanding the Westbrook trade to include grant would've been a homerun. it would've cost another pick but would've been worth it.

there were plenty of guys who signed for the full NTMLE that would've been great. it would mean not resigning house and going for them instead but I think some might have been worth it. or we could've split the NTMLE into house and given the remainder (same as TMLE money) to another FA. again we don't know if they were interested in coming here which is 50% of it, but here's the list:

NTMLE - Aminu, DAJ, Delon Wright, Seth curry, Tyus Jones, carroll, rose, pope
TMLE - market Morris, Justin Holiday, Jamychal Green, Bradley, McGee, boogie, looney, robin Lopez, Scott, hood, Holmes, lyles, Cunningham, ed Davis.

personally I saw aminu as the #1 target before the summer started. I'm 100% sure he'd rather start for the rockets than come off the bench for the magic.

Didn’t grant get traded before the Westbrook deal went down? But he would have fit Forsure.

Aminu signed for over 9m annually we didn’t have that kind of money. I don’t think him missing out on 3-4m per season just to start on the Rockets would have done it for him but another fit Forsure.

Green and hood are interesting we could have signed either guy for the same money. Although it doesn’t sound like hood was moving in from Portland from what he’s been saying.

    Green is a fit Forsure.

But he rest of that list I’d rather have house and develop him more see what he can be.

Not to mention the money we still have for buyouts.

aminu signed for MLE. 100/100 would rather have him than house.

green would've been a great fit. we agree.

grant's trade was completed before the westbrook deal was completed, but i think we agreed to trade for russ earlier than the grant deal was announced. could be wrong here but that was my understanding.
