    I think bringing back MD as well as retaining Morey will only bring us more of the same crap.

    Im sure some poster will want to refer to the year before last when our stars were younger and MD was actually trying to coach.

    He's got us out of the McHale funk, but now we've undoubtedly plateaued. He's allowed Harden to free-style to an MVP or 2, but his flaws with time outs and adjustments just won't beat the Warriors with this ageing team. We desperately need young athletes to compliment our core, but he doesn't trust them. So now what? That's the issue.

    Agreed. This franchise has reached its maximum potential with MDA. There are no real upgrades that will get us over the hump as long as MDA is the coach. Hell, there probably aren't any realistic upgrades for us anyway but at this point, we have to try something different if we want to win.

    Cool! Bring back Dan Toni. Just make sure there is a “call a damm timeout” , “develop the youth” and “go at least 10 deep in the playoffs” clauses.......

    Totally agree. Inherited an inherent mess and has made into a powerhouse

    Clown move by the team trying to play hardball with Dan Tony in the first place. It's not like cheap and good coaches are lining up to work for Tilman anyway.

    The Whole Concept of 3 or Layup started to take off when McHale was here, surely, MDA has perfected it, but that wasn't a funk.

    MilkHair just was too mediocre. Dwight Howard was too mediocre at the end.

    It’s being reported now that D’Antoni’s agent has said a deal is not close and nothing has changed.

    That goes to show you how inaccurate this “inside information” is this time of year. Don’t believe any of it.

    Sounds like MacMahon got his story from the Rockets side (trying to negotiate a deal behind Mike's agent's back LOL) and Mike's agent was like

    Deliberately going behind MDA's representation is incredibly bush league and borderline unethical. (No borderline about it, if these were lawyers trying to talk with someone they knew was represented by counsel.)

    The Rockets front office and ownership seem to be in a contest to find new and innovative ways to disappoint their fans.

    Give him an extension that goes to the end of CP3's deal or fire him: I'm cool with either. But playing these kinds of f$%k-f$%k games with a coach that's as experienced as MDA, is just a terrible look. No one who is a quality assistant would want to come to this organization, if they can expect they'll be treated this way by ownership.

    Same crap = average of 57.7 wins per year

    Here are the average wins per year over the last three seasons / number of titles (assuming Toronto comes through)

    Warriors = 60.7 / 2
    Rockets = 57.7 / 0
    Raptors = 56 / 1
    Jazz = 53 / 0
    Celtics = 52.3 / 0
    Spurs = 52 / 0
    Bucks = 48.7 / 0
    Thunder = 48 / 0
    Blazers = 47.6 / 0
    Nuggets = 46.6 / 0
    Pacers = 46 / 0
    Sixers = 43.7 / 0

    So basically, we are the third best team in the league over the last 3 years, and there's a pretty big drop to #4. There are 25-27 other teams that would love to have our utter crap results.

    Yet you're convinced that dumping Morey and D'Antoni would somehow magically improve on that. :confused:

    I just don't understand the organization here (assuming i understood the situation well)...you either extend him if you really believe he's the right guy, otherwise just fire him or let the next season play out and decide on the future later, this back and forth makes it look like they have no idea on what to do.

    I think a good college coach or g-league that holds players accountable and does real traditional offense, post ups and midrange but Morey wont allow that.

    It's funny how defensive they get too when a tmz-like reporter questions them.

    Agreed. Morey's over-involvement is part of the problem as well.

    I was relieved when Tilman didn't do anything stupid and bring in his nephew to act as GM after he bought the team (even though Daryl's track record is wildly overinflated), but he's beginning to look like an idiot. How are the Rockets supposed to lure free agents this summer, never mind fill out their coaching staff, when their coach's contract is about to expire?

    This summer is going to define this franchise for some time. And so far they're off to a really crappy start.

    If for some reason the Rockets don't upgrade their way into the tax this summer, I hope MDA walks next summer. The Rockets' window with James and Chris will be damn near closed by then, and even at 70 MDA will get an opportunity to reshape a franchise. I would rather watch a young and overachieving MDA team, than a cheap ass lineup of over-the-hill Rockets, led by a disgruntled James Harden and a coach like Thibs, whose only achievements seems to be wasting potential and pissing people off.

    You're cementing your reputation as a cheap a$$, Tilman. Pay MDA what he deserves, get your coach and your geek on the same page, and bring in some firepower.
