i never said 10man rotation, you said that luc will only run point when one of our guards goes down, and then the rotation in this case will just shrink to 8 b/c we all know pringles isn't playing the outsiders. and aren't both paul and gordon more injury prone than average?
I told y'all giving up both Beverley and Lou Williams wasn't a good idea. I'd rather we threw in Ariza. We don't have enough creators or facilitators on this team. You seen it last night. The game got ugly(ier) when Harden left the game. We don't even have enough good ball handlers. Just Harden CP3(when he's healthy) and Gordon. Harden and CP3 are going to have to play heavy minutes. This is why I wanted to sign Barbosa. We need a vet
But we are platooning one of the positions -- backup center where the starting C only gets 24-28mpg likely So, we are really a 9 1/2 man rotation of legit, NBA rotation players all deserving of a legit role. That's deep...and it means no one really needs more than 34 minutes, except in big time games. I don't see a problem.
Anderson is fine in the regular season but he'll be unplayable in the play-offs when he gets abused on D and his shot doesn't fall.
Zhou Qi needs to start! (edited) G - Chris Paul G - James Harden F - Trevor Ariza F/C - Zhou Qi F/C - Clint Capela Bench G - Eric Gordon; Bobby Brown G/F - PJ Tucker; Troy Williams F/G - Luc Mbah a Moute F - Ryan Anderson; Cameron Oliver F/C - Nene; Taric Black; Chinanu Onuaku Eric, PJ, Luc, Ryan, and Nene will lead the bench. That is a solid 10 man rotation with Nene getting rest on back2backs and Paul or Harden taking an occasional night off. Plus the bench squad may be better dealing with Ryan's lack of defense. Qi gets excellent experience against the top players of the league as a starter, making him more and more useful each and every game.
As long as we get enough minutes out of him at wing to limit Ariza's mins I'm cool with it . I feel like we got PJ and Luc to be nice wing defenders to spell Ariza , but we are gonna cut Andersons minutes instead ... Which again ... Is fine , but I don't wanna see Ariza playing 35 min again this year . Gordon should also be limited too . When we push him over 30 a night for a long stretch you can see it wear on him . Ideally Cp3 32 EG 16 James 33-4 Eg 12 Luc 5 Trev 30 Luc 18 Ryan 28 PJ 20 Clint nene 30/18
The tweet was only about the Spurs game, due to Paul being out, and fact we just cut 4 players. Seems more experimentation than a decision.
I think he should be the Ariza replacement. Love Trev but I would have no problem throwing him in a package with Ryno to get a star.
I am surprised. With Paul's and Gordon's injury history, we don't have a guy that can step in the event of injury that can run the offense. Mbah Moute is good for this team, especially defending SF or PF and shooting the 3's. Point Guard is not a role I am aware of that he has a lot of experience with. We only need a 9 man rotation, another PG would only be in case of injury.
so in other words, bobby brown is still not good enough to be a backup pg? and what about mbah at pf, is pj gonna backup both forward spots?
Man Morey is just r****ded. Does he really think we would be ok going into the season with only 1 competent point guard? If he doesn't pick up another point guard before the season opener I am gonna be real pissed.
I wonder if our 8 man rotation is strong enough to win a championship. I think that if by some miracle, a player becomes available for the minimum in FA that is a top 5 player on our team, then we are sufficiently stocked up to be a strong contender for the ring. Warriors 8 man: Curry Durant Green Klay Zaza Iguodala Livingston Nick Young (arguable) Rockets: Harden Paul Gordon Anderson Capela Ariza Tucker Nene (arguable) That's a tough one. We need one upgrade. It would be perfect if we could land another big name, but realistically I think with one good upgrade to our 8-man rotation and a Warriors matchup is practically a coin toss. We can outwork them, we can out hustle them, we could have a breakthrough season from one of the young guys, we might see great developmental strides from Clint Capela, better shooting from Anderson/Moute/Tucker/Ariza. This is why they play the games. I believe Chris Paul is every bit as impactful as Kevin Durant. Defensively moreso, but offensive showing similar efficiency with lower volumes. I'm adamant that Paul has to take a bigger scoring role than he's ever taken now that he's on a team with another elite playmaker. I want to see Paul aim for 25 every night. I am not confident in Harden's off-ball effectiveness and efficiency, so I would like to have him run the offense significantly more than Paul. But I don't want Paul standing around, I want to see him attacking relentlessly rather than being passing in the way Ty Lawson was.
Think we need one more facilitator, a bonafide point. No offense to the Prince but he is break glass in case of emergency distributor for the team. And not saying the missing guy needs to be a traditional point guard. If Rockets are truly going towards positionless basketball then every starter needs to able to handle ball and pass. The obvious holes in starting 5 are Ryno, Capela and even Ariza. In truth, Ryno is a specialist and shouldn't get heavy minutes against teams like GSW and SA. He's essentially half a man in the rotation, like Nene.
Let's find a younger cheaper Lou Williams instead. Cat Barber is available. As for vets, would rather someone younger than Barbosa but he definitely is a plug and play guy for MDA.
Don't see the need for the 4th guard freakout. Just put Bobby Brown in with Ariza, Luc, PJ, and a center and let him chuck 3's in a pinch, we'll still outscore the weaker teams. We should also be looking to find some playing time and build Troy Williams. If there is an injury to one of the top guards we would become destination #1 for every free agent guard and Morey would have his pick.
