Why are people assuming this has to do with McHale? I'm sure he got asked a lot of questions last game about Beverley's play, considering Beverley got to finish the game. He's just having some fun with the media this time.
Yeah, probably about the media since McHale specifically praised Jeremy after last game. Maybe even about Internet chatters, but seem strange that McHale would have said anything to him to lead to that response.
Well it is word for word what McHale says when speaking about the PG play. McHale used that same exact phrase when speaking about Tony Douglas.
seems like it was an initial dig at mchale tbh, but also based on the truth since he talked about the second unit's defense.
In this case I have no problem with Jeremy having fun. But generally speaking - yes, the coach can say things that the athlete cannot say back to the coach. On occasion, the coach can treat the athlete pretty harshly. Doesn't really work the other way around. You shouldn't expect preferential treatment for your favorite player. At any rate, we beat the Mavs by 30. I don't really care about any post game!
Lin is laughing, winning, and a millionaire. Meanwhile, on Clutchfans, posters imagine backstories of irrational cruelty.
The phrase "... did a great job." isn't exactly unique. And everyone was praising Patrick Beverley after last game, not just McHale.
It would have been something if he said I think Finch coached a great game...or Sampson really got us motivated
Lin said that jokingly to show he was not really upset of the benching in 4th qtr. Maybe to get LOFs to lighten up?
generally speaking - yes, the coach can criticize his player's game, even harshly, and the player should not say back, as long as the way the coach criticizes is not derogatory, is not dissing his player's character. Also the smartest coaches criticize his player privately and defend him in public (not that he has to). It's not even about one's favorite player. I would equally have problem with any coach who uses derogatory words to criticize even my least favorite player. Expect a coach to be fair and respectful to his player doesn't mean expect preferential treatment, does it? The interest thing about the arguments in this thread and even in that famous "29Pts 9Tos" thread is that: nobody here knows exactly what's going on or if there is anything going on between McHale and Lin; if some words were said; if Jeremy was even poking fun at McHale in this interview. It's all us fans here guessing and trying to interpret things in our own way. Nobody is going to convince the other how he should interpret the situation. If so, why not keep having fun for ourselves by guessing? I'm also guessing Parsons is coping Lin's hair style
Conspiracy theories as usual He was not even trying to imitate Mchale. Patrick Beverley basically just pumped up everyone at half time. Patrick is just one energetic mofo who tried to pump up everyone in team at half time. That is the boring explanation, sorry to disappoint everyone here.
This was not a marquee Beverly game, but he's either won or kept us in quite a few lately. Let the media joke, but everyone watching games knows both Lin and Beverly are helping us win night in night out. Props to both of them. They're a great tandem.
