Lineup Issues - Better Now Than Later

    All this Beverley vs. Lin, twin towers vs. one center lineups.

    All these growing pains are better experienced now than later on in the playoffs.
    As much as I think Kevin McHale is a mediocre coach he's not doing anything wrong. If we just abandoned our lineups every game because they didn't work then we'd be a completely dysfunctional and broken team come playoff time. Team chemistry would suffer and over the long run we'd lose a lot more games and not play up to our potential.

    All this lineup tinkering is a must. Now, over a minute sample size the twin towers lineup does not seem to be working; at least not against teams that can run. However the twin towers lineup proves effective (sometimes) against slow-paced teams. Information we would not have known had we scrapped lineup adjustments after one game. Growing pains people, learning experience. If the Miami Heat couldn't do it their first year with three superstars, then Houston might not be able to do it with our talent.

    Also you can bet these losses are not in vain. Daryl Morey practically singlehandedly brought advanced metrics to the NBA. He needs this data more than anyone. Win or loss, none of it matters until we get to the playoffs anyway. Might as well accrue some data about all our lineup possibilities now.

    Cheer up people. Two years ago we were a perpetual 9th place, 14th pick team. Our star player was Kyle Lowry.

    Maybe I'm thinking too highly of Kevin McHale but I'm going to guess that he'll be able to solve our Iso Harden headaches come playoffs time. Feel free to complain and tear into McHale if he leaves this unaddressed by then.

    Stop kidding yourself. If it was for stat, the line up would have been tried in games and not as the starers. It is obvious TT is either as a showcase Asik or to pacify his desire for staring role. I think they probably agree to a 10 game test to see how it goes. So far not so good.

    The frustrating thing is that they could probably have made it work if they did more PnR with this lineup.

    If you think there are issues now, wait till next year when 6 of our 8-man rotation(Harden, Howard aside) will be in their free agency year.
    Imagine a rotation of ISO-Harden, Dwight 'Hakeem' Howard, and 6 guys all trying to 'get theirs'.

    In the eyes of nitpicky women and weak willed men, teams were made to be packaged, assembled and WIN on the spot.

    No growth necessary. Just trade and deliver.

    This is a sign for their Fantasy Sports God Murray to deliver the rapture come trade deadline, or hence the seas will boil with KoolAid of unmet instant gratification.

    There was not even a remote chance of line up tinkering here.

    Just a stubborn coach.

    8 man rotation? Seriously? If mchail wanted to experiment with line ups, he'd be trying them out, and not letting them rot on the bench. what happened to our supposed deep bench?

    What line up tinkering? Line up and rotation has not changed since start of the season... except for injurys...

    Would really like Mchale to tinker the line up... at least change combination every 3-4 games, if that is the real intention...

    I think we're still trying to fix the perimeter defense, so I don't know if it's time to bring DMo in, but when Casspi and Garcia aren't cutting it, we need more offense.

    I would try the TT but this time with DMo subbing in for Asik. Maybe DMo's postmoves can generate more open looks on the perimeter. Even Greg Smith and TJones may be able to help our offensively-challenged TT.

    We were explosive in the preseason before we got the DH/Asik combination in play. Just try something different to reboot the offense.

    Some of us were already saying before even the preseason started that Twin Towers would only work against big, slow teams like Memphis and would be a disaster against other teams. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out, you just have to use common sense.

    Something McHale apparently lacks.

    Maybe we still indeed are trying to fix the perimeter defense, but if this is so, why havent we given significant minutes to brewer?
