Harden has better numbers, but Lillard can lead a team...

Who else thinks if we switched Lillard for Harden, Rockets would have a better record?

Does win shares account for leadership and the ability to motivate others to be better??

Which is the point of my post, I know where the numbers are.

So what's the answer? does win shares take into account leadership?

And you don't think leadership contributes to wins?

Leadership and motivation are in the eyes of the beholder. Did Harden lead and motivate last year?

People want a better explanation for why the Blazers lost four starters and only dropped one playoff seed than "the players they acquired were still pretty decent and the Western Conference, after the top four seeds, dropped off a ton," so they go with a Lillard-is-a-master-motivator narrative.

Some players probably are better leaders and motivators...a few may even be good enough at it for it to matter. But I don't think any of us have a clue who those players are, so I think the numbers mean a whole lot more.

LOL what? Isn't that the same question? And obviously Harden with the higher win shares is your answer for who would give us more wins.

Other than Harden's superiority in points, rebounds, assists, shooting percentage, efficiency, steals, blocks, PER, offensive rating, defensive rating, and win shares, sure...Lillard is totally better than Harden.

    No it's not actually....

Player A with superior leadership skills would motivate Player B to play/practice harder..

Which increases player Bs win shares instead of player A

I am generally very harsh on Harden, but Lillard isn't even close to Harden in terms of impact on the court.

And how are you discovering these magical motivational skills? From an article in which Lillard thinks practice is cool?

Lillard is a great player and if you want to say he has been better than Harden this season, then fine. At least that's the narrative.

But please know that there is ABSOLUTELY NO REAL EVIDENCE which suggests Lillard is a better player. I mean none. zero. I know numbers and stats are not everything, but if you can't beat the other guy in even one category, that tells you something.

But hey, Lillard's team is doing better so yeah who could disagree? That's basically the whole argument. Let's just forget C.J.Mccollum who can drop 20-25 in any given night, also Plumlee and Aminu who has been absolutely amazing in the playoffs.

right, I'm not groundbreaking any new science on a fan forum, just asking what I thought was an interesting question....sorry?

they are intangibles, we can't quantify them...

but I don't think it's a secret that the Rockets had a leadership problem last year.
