    As of April 18

    Lax social distancing
    Sweden Deaths - 1,511(population 10.2 million)
    Netherlands Deaths - 3,601 (population 17 million)

    Stricter social distancing and quarantine
    Finland Deaths - 90 (population 5.5 million)
    Norway Deaths - 160 (population 5.5 million)
    Denmark Deaths - 346 (population 5.8 million)

Despite starting off slower than the US, this gap between those who followed social distancing and those who didn't is growing exponentially by the day - the proof is in the body count.

I hope the head of the Swedish CDC and the prime minister get Covid19 and die.
Die alone, without their family, desperate and gasping for air and not even get a proper burial. Throw their bodies quickly to be cremated.

May they suffer what they have unleashed upon others.
Since they are culling and mass murdering the old and weak, get first in line.

I don’t know what part of Texas you live in, but where I live people are taking social distancing very seriously.

We shouldn't even be talking about Texas as TEXAS. Houston, Austin, San Antonio, WBCS, etc... need to operate independently from places like... Clyde, TX. And then you have Dallas which should be doing whatever it is Oklahoma wants them to do.

Turner needs to stand strong and act rationally.

absolutely . I was a fan of how Turner responded to Harvey , but this might be a different beast entirely for him .

How are New York, Florida, and Louisiana alike?

New York has a super dense population that is prime for spreading a virus and very difficult to avoid it. They did start implementing strict social distancing, and they are starting to flatten the curve. Florida has been one of the most reticent to implement social distancing, has a far less dense population spread. Louisiana has a wider spread of population. The Federal government has been restricting supply of tests and supplies to New York and allowing a much freer flow of supplies and tests to Florida.

So how are the ones you mentioned similar except that they all have large numbers of tourists visiting their cities?

They’re all similar bc they all suck at social distancing and Texas should be more like them according to this thread

Texas has one of the lowest COVID deaths per million in the country (15-20 deaths per million people)

The idea that they didn't mitigate enough is absurd.

    Texas - 453 deaths (population: 29 million)

Maybe all of these countries should just do whatever Texas is doing?

TX social distancing mandate is nothing like Sweden. Get your facts straight.

I think @malakas lives in Greece. It sounds like she is having a very bad day; she's often been fairly on the ball during all this stuff, though understandably upset about it.

I'm no fan of Texas's governor but it sounds like TX has played it pretty well so far. And also, I hope, the heat is a mitigating factor with this virus. Fingers crossed, but the heat hasn't helped Ecuador very much:

I haven't looked up what's happening in Sweden but I know they had a more relaxed approach to start with.

    It’s @Senator OP

Sweden is basically under voluntary social distancing. Nothing is closed and there is a ban on gathering larger than 50.

As for TX, every single major cities mandated social distancing before the gov.

the measure would be how many since the 20th death, right? Then you'd compare week-by-week to others, from equal starting point. I think their first death was March 11th, because they're more isolated.
