With the win over Lamar tonight, the Bearkats are now 11-0 in Southland Conference play and 19-5 overall. Coach Bob Marlin is a lock to get his 6th 20 win season since taking over the Kats. Unfortinately, the SLC is crap and SHSU will have to win the conf. tourney to get in the NCAA's, but it's definitely looking good so far. Coach Marlin is possibly the best unknown coach in the country. How he's still at Sam is beyond me. While I'd hate for him to go, some bigger program is going to see what he's been doing in Huntsville and scoop him up. EAT EM UP KATS!

Clinched the #1 seed. Hopefully we'll be able to get through. We're projected as a 14 seed right now on ESPN (playing Vandy in the first round), but they still have us listed as being 16-6 when we're now 20-6. If they sweep through the rest and end up at 26-6, maybe they can get a 13 or possibly a 12 seed.
UTSA is gonna win the southland conference and be a #16 seed and upset a #1 seed...book it. Go roadrunners. beep beep
A little scared about the conference tourney...it's tough when an entire season of good play comes down to a few games, since the Southland isn't going to have any at-large bids into the tourney. Marlin is a phenomenal coach. Not that I want him to leave, but UH would be smart to go after him.
Especially with Sam's record in it. Got through a few years ago but haven't fared well since. This is a better overall team, though...probably the best in Marlin's tenure. If they simply play the way they have proven they're capable of, the tournament will be a cakewalk. If they tighten up, someone else will be going to the Tourney.
The Southland has had some Tourney success lately. I remember TAMU-CC surprising many, and Northwestern St shocking everyone. As a TX ST grad SHSU is my archrival, but should they represent the SLC I'll be cheering for 'em.
Let's go SHSU!!!! These guys are for real. The conference might be weak but where strong. Don't look past us. We got corey almond for 3s and Gilberto clavell in the post. Good bench play. The only thing is are starting center is out. We are good!
Clinched the regular season title outright with a 25 point pasting of UT Arlington. 2 road games this week (@ Northwestern St & @ Tx. State). Winning both would keep us on a nice roll going into the SLC tourney. ESPN still has us projected as a 14 seed, only now in the West playing Pitt in the 1st round.
Tough loss to end the season at Tx State in overtime. They were unconscious from the three point line, but even with that it took a horrible bailout foul call on the Bearkats in the last possession to send it to overtime. The game was on Southland TV (KNWS 51 in Houston). Tournament starts Wednesday vs Nicholls at 6 pm, then if we win we'll play the winner of Tx State/SE LA on Thursday. A rematch against Tx State would be fun. Thursday's games will be on Southland TV, and the championship game is at 3 pm Saturday on ESPN 2.
