Let Sac have the 5th spot. We do not want to face Mavs in the playoff. Dirk,Finely,KVH,Stack,Terry,Damp + the evil twins Daniel and Howard, Dallas is too explosive, too explosive.
I think we're pretty locked in to the 5th spot. I thought we might have caught Dallas, but it ain't happen'n, they're too consistent and have a decent schedule compared to ours.
It is not a good idea to tank games to make a lower seed. Karma will bite us in the end. We need to gear up for the playoffs by playing and beating all comers so that we go into the playoffs on a roll. Once we are in the playoffs, JVG ball trumps Dirk and Co. The playoffs are about defense and executing the half court offense, two of our strengths. In addition, we have seen very low turnovers lately, which bodes well for us in the playoffs. Bring the Mavs on, we can take them.
I'd rather see us play Seattle. If it takes JVG "resting T-Mac and Yao" for the last couple of games so be it. The Rox are a good team but not good enough (like the Spurs, Heat, Suns) to say it doesn't matter who we play because we clearly DO NOT match up well vs a healthy Dallas team.
I don't care what see we're ending up with, as long as we play as a team and just keep winning. Once we get to the playoff, I don't think it matters because Rockets are capable of beating any team.
Is Duncan coming back this year? If he can't come back until later in the playoffs, then we may want to play Spurs earlier (which I suppose would be the 6th seed). They're still playing good w/o him (beat the Sonics and Rox). Either way - we should try to win every game. I don't think any good can come from tanking games.
see, that's the wrong approach to take. if we win our first round matchup, we still have to face a tough team in each successive series. winning a first round series only to lose in the next round is not worth tanking games for.
So we fight hard against Dallas with one leg standing for the Spurs in the 2nd round. In your logic, seeding makes no difference #1 or #8 is the same.
Am I the only one who thinks Dallas is going to catch Seattle for the 3 spot. I think we will be #5, but still play Seattle at #4.
In all honesty, with the depth in the West, if you're not getting home court seeding doesn't make a difference. And with the way things look, it appears that the Spurs will be the no. 2 seed, so if we beat Seattle, we'd have to face them next.
There's an outside chance they may catch SA for the 3, in which case Seattle would likely move up to 2, but I don't see it happening. I can't see Dallas leapfrogging both, though.
As someone mentioned somewhere - Dallas can't be the 3 seed since every division automatically get a top seed. Seattle is locked in at 3. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Rockets will win against Dallas in the first round. That is who they will play, and that is lal that matters.
I think we'll get the 6th seed barring a collapse by the Kings. They have the easier schedule with only 4 games against playoff teams(1 from the East), while we have 6 which includes 2 each against the Suns and Sonics.
Looking back there were some pretty good predictions back then Granted, we went through a ride for either the 5, 6 or even the 7th seed. Question: As I haven't followed this since 96 (the last bona fide season for the Rockets) once we beat Dallas, do we move on to the winner of SA / Denver?
