and let Harden cement it in history that the wrong guy got the MVP. Poor David Robinson who is still my second favorite center of all time is forever known for being trashed by the Dream.. Would love Harden to do the same with Russell.. Would love it if rox sweep OKC with Harden ending with a 35 ppg average and russell with less then 25 ppg and harden averaging a trip dub for series would be nice too.. I would consider it a successful season if he does this..
dont get me wrong.. i would love for harden to get it.. but id rather him use this to get so super pissed off that he anihilates russell, then anihilates spurs and gives warriors all they can handle.
The thing that sucks is, they now don't award it until after the playoffs are over. There will be no more Dream vs. Robinson situations.
Everyone has been talking about trying to compare this to Hakeem and Robinson. A couple of big differences: 1- in 1995 the Rockets were the #6 seed and were considered the underdogs against the Spurs. Hakeem's dominating performance was seen as one of the reasons, actually it was the reason, they were able to pull off the major upset. The Rockets now, on the other hand, are the better team and are the favorites over the Thunder so if we win (and I'm pretty confident we will) it will just be seen as what should have happened. And yes, I understand that Harden is the reason that we are the better team, but regardless... 2- Hakeem and Robinson directly guarded each other all game long. That's why you get the quote from Robinson where, in desperation, he said "I feel like I guarded him pretty well if you can believe that...". Harden and Westbrook don't guard each other and aren't directly going head to head against each other. So it's more like Westbrook vs Beverley and Harden vs Roberson. Regardless, I am just ready for all the MVP talk to be over. It would be cool if Harden won, sure, but I don't care that much. I would much, much rather the Rockets make a deep playoff run.
