Anyone have LED bulbs in their house? I was trying to decide a color but not sure which is best. I was going to go with daylight but it seems they are not to be used everywhere in the house per guide below. -Soft White Kitchens, Dining Rooms, Living Rooms -Bright White Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Hallways and Offices -Daylight Display areas, Laundry Rooms, Security Lighting and Garages
I hate incandescent lighting/soft white lighting. That's in the 2700K range. I prefer bright white in the 3500K. Daylight is 5000K which I find too blue/white. The wife prefers 2700K so we settled on 3000K and it does well.
When I get up at night for restroom, soft white are easiest on the eyes. Most other times, I use Daylight. I've also had better experience with Daylight taking photos indoors. My cell camera is either too dumb or does weird things with white balance when using soft white.
That's because the soft white color spectrum is skewed towards the redder side of the spectrum (reds, oranges, yellows) whereas daylight encompasses the full visible spectrum.
That explains why my old cell took pictures with a blueish tint as it "white balances" the more red/orange/yellowish soft white. Haven't had any problems since I started using daylight.
Just put in a few Philips LED lights in the apt. Went with daylight for bathrooms and closets. It's good when you are trying to pick out clothes to see the right colors. Wife likes doing her makeup better now in the bathroom with the new light. Went with soft white for the ceiling fan bulbs in the bedroom. Compared to the an incandescent bulb, it's VERY similar. Try to think of the mood you're trying to create with the temperature of the color. http://blog.batteriesplus.com/2014/psychology-of-lighting
