Its not bad to take a 1 year flier on sanders. FA rentals are the best as they cost no assets to get esp now that we have our backup scorer. Just make sure its a 1 year deal or with team option to mitigate the risk.
by 1 year you mean the rest of this season right? He's def not going to sign a team option for next season, he doesn't seem like the type who wants to commit his fate to a business that much, and might legitimately become worth 4-5 times the minimum by this summer. Sign him for the rest of the season imo. We have Clint/Nene/Harrell, nothing to lose, a little but to gain.
Yup just this year. If we can get Sanders commitment then maybe he's worth all the remaining cap we have left. Honestly with 6th man rival Williams on the team I don't think we need another perimeter player anymore, blowing all the remaining cap (~9M?) on Sanders might be a worthwhile gamble. IF he clicks and shows passion for bball again then maybe you can look at a 2 year contract in the summer on something lol.
Of the Rockets want Sanders there's nothing stopping them from getting him now by offering g the whole 3.5 million. Sounds like they want to wait on Bogut first. Having not seen any Sanders workouts.... I'd be more excited by him just because of the potential upside and a gut feel that Bogut doesn't have a ton left in the tank... physically... mentally (seems to have mailed it in a bit.
Only need him for spot minutes against other huge Centers. Not like he's a shooting guard running through screens constantly
