Must be a three way with Detroit, since you know, his low level connection works for that organization.

Are we all just going to ignore this quote and not try to guess who it was? John Wall? Kemba? Lowry? IT? Are any other Eastern Conference PGs even elite? Dragic?

I actually see a 3-way deal featuring Spurs with Suns help as most logical fit at this point
Checked and this works in Trade Machine

Destination: San Antonio Spurs (with help from the Suns)

    Spurs get: $29.2M
    PG Kyrie Irving (3 x 18.9)
    SG Iman Shumpert (2 x 10.3)

    Suns get: $31.5M
    PF LaMarcus Aldridge (2 x 21.5)
    SG Danny Green (2 x 10)

    Cavaliers get: $31.9M
    PG Eric Bledsoe (2 x 14.5)
    C Tyson Chandler (2 x 13)
    PF Marquese Chriss (3 x 3.1)
    G Dejounte Murray (1.3 x 3)
    Miami's 2021 unprotected first-round pick
First-round swap rights with Phoenix in 2018 (protected for picks Nos. 1-6; converts to second-rounders in 2018 and 2019 if not conveyed)

    Why CLE does it -

As mentioned, Bledsoe is a good (Top 12-15) starting PG
He will never replace Kyrie's scoring, but his defense on the ball will be a significant upgrade for 30+ MPG
Plus moves Kyrie into the West

Chandler gives them inside presence on the boards and at the rim when Tristan rests, something they clearly lack at present

Chriss & Murray inject some much-needed youth into the rotation now
Both could develop into nice building blocks for the inevitable rebuild 2-3 years from now
Chriss in particular still has star potential down the road IMO
The picks further enhance the Cavs future post-LeBron 2.0

Shumpert has been available since at least the Trade Deadline
Murray provides a much cheaper, versatile replacement with upside who can get some minutes running point
This would in turn open up more minutes for the crowd of wings (Korver, JR, Green, Jefferson)

    Why PHX does it -

Suns have been in on every rumor regarding a star PF all summer (Griffin, Millsap, Love)
Clearly they want to upgrade Chriss at the 4 with an established vet to pair with Booker
LMA might not be what he was 2 years ago, but he would still be an upgrade over Chriss right now
If they give him more post touches than Pop was willing, and he clicks with Booker ...
They could potentially get to accelerate Chriss's growth into an AllStar PF for 2 guys they've been looking to dump all offseason

Which brings us to Bledsoe, whom PHX has been trying to trade for years
His presence essentially cost them both Dragic and Isiah, and now looks to be stunting the growth of Tyler Ulis
Since Brevin Knight seems to be untradeable, they may as well roll with him & Ulis at PG

Chandler has similarly stunted the development of both Len and Bender
Aldridge can replace much of what the soon-to-be 35 year old Tyson brought protecting the rim and cleaning glass
Expanded roles for the 2 young bigs should make up the difference

Green brings a veteran with championship experience as a backup 2/3 behind Booker & Jackson
Here his shooting and wing defense will be just as important to this young team as his mentoring of the 2 young stars

    Why SA does it -

Pop has had LMA & Green on the block all summer in hopes of finding another star to pair with Kawhi that fits better than Aldridge
Rumors alluded to LMA's presence factoring into CP3's decision to choose Houston over the Spurs

In addition, Tony Parker's uncertain future makes finding a new starting PG critical to any title hopes in 2018
For Pop, a deal that brings in Kyrie to take over PG, while also shipping out LMA, is a dream scenario falling right into his lap
His penetration and scoring punch from the 1 is something SA has been missing since Tony's heyday 4-5 years ago

Kyrie would need to be more of a playmaker for the Spurs than he was in CLE
He has never shown he is any more a pass-first PG than Tony ever was
Kawhi is nowhere near the ballhandler or playmaker that LBJ was at SF
Forcing him into the role of primary distributor is, IMO, a misuse of Kawhi's best talents on OFF
Gasol does a great job in the Duncan role, facilitating for others the way Tim did for over a decade, but it's not enough
And Pop can no longer run the offense thru Ginobili as he did when Parker was in his prime

Losing LMA hurts the depth at the 4/5, but not so badly with the addition of Gay
If Bertans takes the next step this year as the new starter at PF, his spacing combined with Gay could actually improve the Spurs overall lineup

Replacing Green with Shumpert is a downgrade at starting SG, but they are clearly view Green as expendable
Besides, that is the price the Spurs would pay to acquire the best player in the deal

    Interesting.

I don't think Phoenix does it. I know they chased him a few years ago but he can be a free agent after next year. Maybe he'd re-sign, maybe not but they'd lose Bledsoe, Chandler, Chriss, & a 1st (along with the pick swap).

Final Rotations for all 3 teams Post Trade

    CLE
Still battling with BOS for right to get thumped by GS in Finals
    Thompson / Chandler
    Love / Frye / Chriss
    LBJ / Jefferson / Green
    Smith / Korver / Murray
    Bledsoe
    / Rose / Calderon

    SAS
Now legit threat to HOU (with Melo) for #2 seed and to GS in WCF
    Gasol / Lauvergne / Anthony
    Bertans / Gay / Lee
    Kawhi / Anderson
    Shumpert / Forbes
    Irving / Mills / Parker

    PHX
Still probably miss playoffs, but closer to #9 than bottom of West
    Len / Bender
    LMA / Dudley / Williams
    Jackson / Warren / Jones
    Booker / Green / Millsap
    Ulis / Knight / Price

I don't think the Suns would agree to the above trade. Don't even think they want Lamarcus Aldridge anymore.

Spurs would also lose a lot in that trade (2 starters and by far their best prospect in Dejounte Murray, who has future All-Star level talent). You have to give to get obviously, and they'd gain a Tier-2 Star in Kyrie, but Shumpert legitimately sucks and they'd have a big hole at the PF/Center position outside of an old and declining Pau Gasol.

The Suns aren't getting involved in a trade to send Kyrie somewhere else.

Agreed. They don't gain enough from it. Dumping Tyson Chandler's contract would be the only benefit.

If I am the Cavs, I would take it. It would make Thompson expendable and after the finals performance, DAJ is a huge upgrade. But TT also has ridiculous contract that could be hard to trade

I'm sure they can move TT for second playmaker (albeit a hugely inferior one to Kyrie but still). DJ is a huge upgrade and Pat would be great for them.

possibly but not sure how someone who can't even be in the game in crucial moments at the end qualifies as huge upgrade

he's reliable enough to hit 1/2. and when it's free points, that's definitely a positive. something you can't say about DJ
