espn article says Irving has expressed that he wants to go play in a situation where he can be a more focal point and no longer wants to play alongside LeBron James.

so he wants to be the best player on his own team? that's kind of tough at this point

I don't think it's about lebron leaving. Lebron is hyper controlling and the offense runs through him. He's constantly complaining about the team not being good enough, ran a coach out, etc. it's probably exhausting playing with him

Wow. You don't know the truth of these things, but this indicates to me (as another already mentioned) that LeBron's future in Cleveland is tenuous at best. And there's only so many times Kyrie can visit "the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the shores of Lake Erie" (SiriusXM Channel 26 Classic Vinyl) before running out of touristy things to do in Cleveland. Watching the Cavs games being the other thing.

Yup. If Cavs decide to honor the request, it's possible they offer Irving for Melo and some combo of Nkitilina, cap relief and draft picks. That would work for Cavs because they could still compete this year but then plan for future with cap space and picks. And of course that would be a coup for Knicks.

I'd be surprised though. I think Cavs try and patch this up.

If he "wants his own team" then yes.

Spurs would be a killer fit, but that's Leonards team 100%.

Does this hurt/help our chances with Melo?

The Cavs should trade Irving, Love, Lebron and just rebuild...Lebron is obviously going to bolt after another 4-1 in the finals...

Lebron has a no trade clause and would be too tough to trade
