I'm hard on Rocket's mgmt, because I think their upgrade campaigns are not as well run (and fair) as other entertainment venues. But I've got reason to be positive now. They made a curteous call to check on season ticketholder satisfaction with seats!! First one ever, in my experience! No marketing survey, no questions, no nothing, just purely checking on satisfaction. So are there any skeptics out there think they did this based on the 7-game skid? I'm jaded about Rocket's marketing, but not that jaded. Besides, it wasn't the Marketing dept...it was the Services dept. They fielded some questions about the new arena. Sounds like it will be a standard upgrade campaign. They will match us to comparable seats then allow us to fill out an upgrade application. So far, they are saying no new buyer random draw until after current ticketholders get their upgrades. So, buy your tickets NOW, if you want better odds at good seats in the new arena! Besides, they are having cool new game packages of Cuttino's Week and Francis's Week, presumably a few games to include their bobblehead giveaways. Now, if they would just limit tickets to 4 per customer in non luxury boxes in the new arena, I'd really be thrilled.
Sounds like they read the same article in SI that I did, about the Minnesota Wild. A poorly performing franchise who has a waiting list for season tickets. Their management regularly calls ticket holders solicit feedback.
I disgaree with your assessment of the Wild as being "poorly performing". In only their second year of existence they are over .500 (11-10-5). I would say that last year they performed to expectations and this year they are certainly performing above expectations. Even last year, they were over .500 at home and had more points than 5 other NHL teams.
Sorry bobrek - I was speaking from an ill informed position. I just assumed that they were poor performing as they were an expansion franchise. Still, at .500 they are winning less games than the Rocks over the past 2 seasons, so the comparison for this point is valid.
