Kobe will be out 6 weeks. He fractured his hand last night during the exhibition. Reportedly, the Lakers are going to replace him with Micheal Jordan. They figure no one will be able to tell the difference, anyway. ------------------ Waiting For The clutchcity.net IPO.
Kagy will be out six weeks too. I fell and hit my head during my laughing fit when I heard the news. HA HA HA. Yeah that's right, I'm laughing because Kobe Bryant's injured. Sue me. ------------------ If BS was music, David Aldridge would be the London Philharmonic.
Damn Almu you are quick! I was just about to post this! Yes it's true. MJ Jr. bwoke his wittle hand. Poor baby. Are we sure he didn't do it dropping his rattle? No matter who the coach is, life is still chock full o'laughs in Fakerland!! ------------------ He bandwagon hop like nutty...right off of this BBS!!!!
Shame on you guys. How will we feel if Hakeem went down and everybody celebrated? As far as I can recall, the kid has not done anything deserve this type of treatment. A lot of folks here have made claims about the classiness of Rockets fans. I see a different picture in this thread.
Boo-frickin-hoo. How would we feel if Hakeem was injured and people celebrated? I'd feel like those people were idiots. It's an asinine comparison. Hakeem is a quiet, dignified former MVP with two world titles to his credit. Kobe is an arrogant, overhyped wannabe who personifies the NBA and NBC's pro-LA bias. I wasn't rooting for him to injure his hand. But it's injured now and only six weeks of rehab will fix it. So, you can pardon me if I don't pretend to feel bad for the kid. ------------------ If BS was music, David Aldridge would be the London Philharmonic.
That's too bad that Kobe got hurt. I'm glad, because it will screw with their rotation and possibly chemistry. But, this is not the way I'd prefer the Lakers fail. I'd rather them fail, because they aren't good enough. I am definitely not a Kobe fan, but I don't wish any ill will towards him. It's bad karma and unsportsmanlike to celebrate injuries (ie. Michael Irvin's serious spinal injury) I'd prefer to play the best and beat the best like we did in 1995. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
Well put Dreamer... ------------------ "There is Francis backpedaling at full speed to guard Seattle All-Star Gary Payton on a fast break and then leaping as if off a springboard to make a spectacular fingertip block on what appeared to be a sure layup."
Double-post. Bad Kagy, BAD! I change my mind. You're right. I shouldn't be celebrating Kobe's injury. That's pretty well classless and the type of thing I'd expect from a Utah fan. I apologize and concede the point, HouKets. ------------------ If BS was music, David Aldridge would be the London Philharmonic.
Well I am not one to cheer on injuries like the philly crowd in the Cowboys game last season. I hope koby gets well soon so he can come back, try to sky like the arogant prick he is, fall, and this time maybe break his leg when shaq tries to slam it off the miss and falls on him. Ohhhhhhh, maybe Shaq can get hurt to, wouldn't that hurt poo-wittle NBC's heart, damn, we can dream can't we?? Mayur
BrianK: So what your telling me is that as long as a player is not a dignified, ring-wearing and over hyped personality, you can celebrate his/her misfortunes? Grant Hill is also a target if you use those standards. David Robinson and Tim Duncan would have also qualified if wasn't for their ring last year. I guess the difference between us is that I am an NBA fan first, then a Rockets. While you appear to be the reverse. Not saying that one is better than the other. To make it short, it's just game...nothing more nothing less.
Yes, I am a Rockets fan first. Then a basketball fan. Then a fan of dozens of other sports. Then a fan of politics. Then a fan of sleeping late on Sundays. Then a fan of anything else someone can do for a hobby. Then, finally, a fan of the NBA. And to touch on your other point: I would say that Grant Hill and Tim Duncan comport themselves with a lot more class than Kobe Bryant can ever hope to. ------------------ If BS was music, David Aldridge would be the London Philharmonic.
Well, this is obviously not what I had in mind when dreaming of another failure-filled season for the LakeShow. I want them to fail with everyone healthy, so they can't make any excuses. Besides, as cocky as Kobe can get, I enjoy watching his game, and I'm anxious to see how he develops and how Phil Jackson would use him in the triangle offense. Looks like we'll be hearing a very depressed Bob Costas this season. First he loses his favorite player, then his Yankees lose in the World Series (I'm hoping). Azim da Dream ------------------ We are about to enter the millenium of the Rockets . . .
I pretty much agree with Dreamer ~ for the most part. I want us to beat the Lakers without having to hear the excuse of how, "WELL, THEY'RE PLAYING WITHOUT their 'superstar' KOBE." ETC. Last year it was "the short season"...and every other year it's always injuries, injuries, injuries...or whatever. So I hope he recovers LICKITY SPLIT so the team can't use his absence as an excuse.(they should lose with all their calvary! so they RECOGNIZE!) Just keep the injury bug over there on the west coast~ awayyyyyyyy from the Rockets! [This message has been edited by 4CJ33 (edited October 16, 1999).]
