Wow, so many knee jerk reactions to our first game without our Wolverine about our PG situation right now. We've seen many times Lin has a bad game one night only to follow it up with a scoring explosion. He's the streakiest player in the NBA and ya'll know that, so stop acting like Lin isn't an NBA talent. As to Canaan, the guy had a good first game with meaningful minutes, this doesn't mean he should start but it doesn't mean he should be benched entirely. So please stop with these type reactions and be patient.
Be patient? We lost our last two stars at 30. We're not waiting for a role player like Lin. We need that 7 mil to go towards a consistent, third scoring option as soon as possible. Not a backup PG to a guy like Bev, who we just snatched from overseas. Also, the knee jerk aspect doesn't make sense since Lin started last year. We already know what he is, and what he will be. I love the progression from Jones and Motie, but when Morey says we still need an upgrade at four spot, I'm with him. We don't have time to wait for both to reach their potential. If all these role players we're raising pan out, we won't be able to afford them anyways. Jones and Motie's potential can garner as much right now in a trade, then when they reach their likely potential anyways. It's not just Lin that we can't wait for. It's more about the direction that we're going in.
This. Lin would make a nice 6th man at $2 million a year. Right now he is trying to do too much to live up to an $8.3 million salary. But he could stresslessly outperform a $2 million contract, no problemo.
Not all Canaan hype is a knee jerk. It has looked for quite a while that he would be a PG on the Rockets, but he needed time and opportunity in the NBA. Canaan will be the backup or starting PG by end of next season unless Rockets acquire another PG.
Very true. Good player who belongs in the NBA but from what we've seen in these two seasons, not worth the 8.3mil (not the 15 mil every hater is touting). Imho 6 mil per would be fair, around what other pretty good 6th men are worth.
