Several stat comparisons illustrate the suckitude and where it's coming from. 16.5 PPG - 5 points fewer than last season; 2 points fewer than his career average. 43.3% FG - this is down as well, but is not far from what he regularly posts. 34.8% 3FG - down 4% from last season and his career average. 3.4 FTA - way down from 8.4 FTA last season It seems that when people cited rule changes and predicted a dip in Martin's game, they were not exaggerating. He's down 4 PPG because he doesn't take as many free throws. Throw in his average 3FG% and it's very apparent where he needs to step his game up. I know it's early in the season, he's probably pissed about being treated as an asset, etc etc, but he's killing my fantasy team!
I don't think he's driving enough. He needs to attack like he used to. The rip move ban shouldn't affect his free throws that much.
Every time he drives he isn't looking to finish, just trying to exhibit enough physical contact to get a call and they just aren't giving it to him this year. It seems to be really frustrating him
Maybe he'll reinvent his game and become a sharpshooter a la Rip Hamilton instead of playing like a cheap, loophole-exploiting lawyer on the court.
martin will work it out... i feel like hes playing scared or something... he doesnt shoot as quikly as he used to looking more to pump fake or pass instead of shooting.... also since he hasnt been getting his calls its like he doesnt care to slash to the rim anymore... overall he looks to be playing uninspired scared ball....
Kevin Martin sucking? His numbers are down but he is hardly sucking. He is still producing despite all the other factors (flu, a tight scheduled season, lowry being out the past few games, new foul rule, knowing your team is trying to trade you, etc.) Any other player's slump would be A LOT worse. And yes, I also have Martin on my fantasy team. But thank god I got Lowry too, that guy is killing it! :grin:
