Warriors might actually be challenged if they don't have Durant. He's so important to both their offense and defense. Would be absolutely crazy if OKC matched up with them in the playoffs. Could you imagine how Durant would feel if he saw his old team beat his new team?

don't see that as much of a factor. he didn't get hurt playing his normal game or even an actual basketball move. and he's already gone through an extremely tough injury so the mental aspect won't come as a new experience. seems a lot of people want to assume the worst just because.

You shouldn't care. You should immediately play the lottery because all improbable dreams are coming true for you.

This hurts them more on defense than offense IMO.

Yeah it was a freak accident and honestly it could have been a hell of a lot worse. He had that 270 roid head fall almost directly on his knee. I don't think he will have any mental problems with coming back from this. The bone bruise might hold him back longer than the sprain though depending on how bad it was and the exact location of it.

Not assuming the worst, just saying that KD getting back to his "normal game" might take a little while, more than the "injury recovery timeframe."
I mean, look at Curry, he got back from his injury in the playoffs but he never looked quite the same. All of those lateral cuts can make a difference.

Durant most likely will have surgery than being ready for the playoffs

No reason for him to have surgery on his knee if these reports are correct.

Looks like hes just gonna be in a knee brace for 4 weeks then he will rehab

I don't know why anyone would think OKC could beat the Warriors, even without Durant. This really only affects the Rockets and Spurs, and maybe the Clippers.

have you ever had a serious knee injury? It doesn't matter how it happened. You're going to have trouble with the joint for weeks and that's going to affect your confidence as your body keeps processing that it's not stable every time you move it. It'll eventually become ingrained in your thinking to be careful and it takes time to override that. There will certainly be a mental aspect to it, it just a matter of how long it'll last.

this is so true. I've never had a knee injury but I sprained my wrist skateboarding one time and it took a while before I felt fully confident and comfortable enough to play guitar for over a couple hours at a time.

As a matter a fact yes I have. How it happened absolutely does have an effect because if it happened, especially while doing an actual basketball motion that you tend to do, then mentally you tend to second guess yourself or become extra cautious as a result. That's definitely worse compared to just standing there and a fluke injury where he doesn't have to be as effected mentally as far as the way he plays the game.

To me the mental aspect isn't as worrisome, rather than his rhythm and conditioning when he returns close to playoff time or during is likely the bigger issue

You said it wouldnt be a factor because he wasn't making a move and has been injured before. That's not the same as saying it would be worse mentally if he had been playing. I do think it could be worse mentally, if he had been making a move, but to discount it completely because he was just standing? New injury, new experience, etc...

I said I dont see it being as much of a factor.
