reaaly better than thanasis? lol in the draft combine, Thanasis beat Kj into **** check the video day1 part1
But can he win 1v1 Thanasis? LOL. In all seriousness I also love the plug and play aspect that a KJ McDaniels provides, but Rockets may need another facilitator if Lin is dealt. Spencer Dinwiddie, who can play both SG & PG, may be the bigger need. Dinwiddie is also 6'6 and a very good defender as well. Not quite the athlete as KJ or even Thanasis but is the more complete player. Thanasis in the 2nd is not a bad idea but if Asik is dealt, we will need another big to defend and rebound when Dwight sits or is hurt. Alec Brown is a stretch 5 that could be Mehmet Okur like for the Rockets. Perhaps too much of a luxury however. Although we all know how much Morey loves his long shooters.
Man started watching some DXpress vids on some of these prospects that might be around the Rockets pick...and I have to say, KJ McDaniels is gonna be high on the Rockets board. The kid will be a terrific draft and stash on the bench player. The kid has real skills both on offense and defense...can finish with either hand, and is a shooter...Im sure the Rockets are quietly hoping he survives on this talent filled board...
Morey, thanks for taking my recommendation If we can sign him to long term reasonable deal, it'll be a good trade for a first round talent. His free throw percentage is decent enough, and he can hit the corner three in our system.
Another classic example of a player that has to improve a certain aspect of his game and has failed to do it. McDaniels is going into his second season and has had 2 off seasons to work on his shot. But for some reason, same crappy release. I don't know who he's working with. But it ain't working. He's heaving the same shot up he heaved up 2 years ago. Where's the improvement in this critical area of his game? Where? Does anybody have any idea which coach on the Rockets staff is responsible for working with these players on their jump shooting mechanics? McDaniels has tremendous potential. Super athletic kid. And good kid. Has good character. And he's a good worker. His jump shot should be significantly improved with proper teaching and coaching. It's not. Who's responsible here?
He's shot pretty well tonight. Nothing spectacular but he's hit a few 3s and looks good. He just needs to get comfortable out there with this team. He was hurt at the end of last year. It's not like he could shoot with a wrist injury
He's finally hit a few shots here in the second half with GSW playing guys that won't make their Dleague team. But his stroke is essentially unchanged. It was lacking coming into the draft. And it still looks the same. What's he been doing all summer the last 2 off seasons?
Yawn. I am disappointed as well with his shooting so far, but still a small sample size. Also, he's not running with a creator generally to get him open looks without him working for them. On the plus side, his FTA/ 2-pt FGA is through the roof at the moment and he's got his FT% up. Both small sample sizes as well. He's still got work to do, but unlike Jones, he's a well above average rebounder for his position, a well-above average help defender at his position (could become the best help defender at his position), and gets to the line like Harden. All he's got to do to become a great role player is keep getting fouled, get more PT to polish man-to-man defense and defensive positioning, and learn to knock down open threes (i.e. doesn't matter much if he's making threes against starters or scrubs as he just needs to be good enough to be guarded somewhat closely).
when KJ shuts down a quality player this year it'll all make sense as to his stock value. Don't be surprised his gets quality minutes this year locking down difficult players to defend. If Beverly continues to show improvement knocking down shots there is no reason KJ can't do the same as his career moves along. Heck, if Beverly plays like this during the regular season with the starters and 2nd string then oh boy. That's a big IF but his improvement looks promising.
crips.... given our history I think we're LOADED at this position...that kid pushed down a rebound into the cylinder from freakin outer space !!!
I like his effort and attitude so far. His shot selection could be better, and I don't see reason he can't shoot 3 pointers at acceptable rate in time.
