Yeah that looked very disrespectful. But in all likelihood it was probably just an accident.

Portland is done. First McCollum and now even a more devastating blow. Portland will be out in the first round. That said, hope Nurkic can recover. No one deserves that.

this would be a pretty traumatic experience for me...I’m not gonna lie

I’d be extremely reluctant to play ball again for a very long time if this happened to me...if I did, I’d probably be that dude avoiding any form of contact whatsoever...not jumping for rebounds...not jumping to block shots at the rim...not driving into a congested lane

Act accordingly? Man, what are u going on about? That injury was horrific, and u want to sit there and litigate how people should immediately respond to seeing someone’s leg get fcked up that badly...

They all should’ve crowded around him as he screams in agony?

What's the name of that ref? Edit: I looked it up. Tyler Ford. He should be disciplined.

I had a spontaneous fracture of my tibia once (lots of prior history there).

I think it is likely that there was some previous stress damage, like a predetermined breaking point. That, coupled with the enormous weight and the odd angle with which he came down.

If there is no nerve or muscle damage, as Shams tweeted, I think he can come back from this at a 100 % level (minus conditioning and the psychological aspect). It will take time, though. Needs to watch his weight. Strangely, I think chances of an eventual full recovery are greater than if the ankle or ligaments had been affected.

What's the issue with the ref kicking the guys foot?

It's not like his foot is attached to his body anymore... it's like a piece of driftwood just floating around on the court and getting in the way

This is really the best outcome for this type of injury. A clean break of the bone is something you can 100% come back from. It just takes a lot of rehab. Good luck big fella.

As a Blazers fan, I'm ****ing devastated. Season over. Beyond that, Nurk is a really great guy for this team and city. I hope he comes back 100% like PG.

Also, I have to applaud you Houston fans for making this thread classy, and self policing the only outlier. Cheers. Since my team is dead, I'll have to root for you guys to take Golden State down (really, anyone they are matched up with). Best of luck.

C'mon man, you still have Dame and McCollum will be back so it seems.

Then you still have a deep bench (Seth, Rodney Hood....), prolly have to activate Meyers Leonard if he is still there.

Nurk brought defense, toughness and bonus playmaking. Unfortunately, we just aren't the same team without him. Most Blazers fans recognize Nurk as the actual 2nd best player on the team after Dame. I appreciate the words though. Just kind of hard to look at things positively right now.

I feel for that but as a team there is no way they just mail it in.

Even without Nurk, you cannot get embarrassed as they did against the Pels last year.

Def saw them all but Nurkic is 7ft 300lbs

That’s some serious weight snapping his shin in half.

Their all nasty but seeing a guy that size is just scary.

I’m glad he got paid cause he might not ever be able to play again just because or his size.

Hayward and PG13 are tall but their not nearly the size and weight of Nurkic.

That guy might not be able to run ever again.

    I’m worried for that guy.

    By the way

He’s one of my favorite centers in the game.

Really underrated on both sides of the floor and as a passer.

And from what a read the team loves him he’s had a great impact in that locker room since getting out of Denver where their were rumors of him being not the best teammate.

Shams says clean break no ligament or muscle damage so that’s good. I’m pulling for him.

I think he needs to drop his weight down to 250-260 if he can that will help with the stress he puts on his legs. He’s more than a banger guy has skills he can still be effective with less weight.
