This kid would just be coming off his rookie season if he had gone to college. He's got the Rockets big man academy honing those unique talents/skills/athleticism. Clint's so far ahead of schedule... I think many underestimate him and the impact he'll have down the road against GS. CC's on his way to becoming a top 5 - 6 NBA center.
Inb4 _holic says we need to trade him for boban and that CC is the worst starting center in the league.
hes very well on his way to being a double double center just playing his role. How he develops offensively as far as reliable moves is on him and how hard he works on it. he needs to be able to hit the 30 mins range on the floor to take another step in development
no that's the last thing he needs to do. he still needs to solidify his ability to finish around the rim
I think he will be a poor man's Mutumbo.... probably a decent-good serviceable full time starting center... although he would probably be best splitting time with a beefier banger and alternating based on circumstance...
He is not anything like Rudy Gobert or Dikembe Mutombo. Entirely different skill set, and you will be waiting around forever If you want him to play like those guys.
Next summer Capela is going to get paid. Let's assume we give him five years starting at a conservative $15 million per season. In the following list of centers, which ones do you think Capela will be better than. Tristan LaMarcus Marc DeAndre Steven Rudy Karl Nikola Jusef Nerlens DeMarcus Big Al Dwight Robin Jonas Brook Hassan Bismack Cody Marcin Myles Joel Andre
Clint keeps improving. I hope he's a rebounding madman next season, but 11 boards a game would be quite a jump. Fingers crossed! We need that from him.
I really hate this comment. Any/every NBA team has the resources to properly train young players. Some do it better than others. But there's no tangible proof of the Rockets doing it exceptionally well, with regard to bigs. Anyway... DJ does seem to be the best comp. Don't see Clint getting there defensively, but he's already ahead of the curve offensively. The thing with DJ was one year he was playing basically around 25 mpg for the first 5 years of his career, then just all of a sudden the next year played 35 mpg. Can Clint get there, and remain healthy?
dont get too excited. he had to avg a double double against the spurs in the playoffs. he doesnt have to do that in the regular season. he can still easily be a 12/10 double double big. the rebounds are all his to grab. dont wanna over play him despite what mda loves doing. especially with nene and harrel backing up. he hsould just improve on his own game and work on his fts. dont go for the 3pt crap. way too early in his career to try that when he still has a lot to learn at the center position.
