I just got home from Boston/Maine. Was there Monday through Friday. Monday, I had gone to Fenway. Really cool place. Cooler than Wrigley. I went to the team store. Walked in, and was surprised to see a small row of Yankees hats, so I was ribbing on the kids working there, asking why they had them. Then, I told them they worked at a cool place, but I hope they didnt have to find a new job in a week or two. They looked at me puzzled. I said, "Oh, well I didn't know if you have a year round job, or if you had to find something else once the Astros ended your season." They just looked at me. I walked away smiling.
Wrigley and Fenway both hearken to another age. When men were 4ft tall and hunted for their food with flint-tipped wooden spears. But seriously, there are high school football teams now with better digs.
I went during the last regular season series this year. I caught 2 Astros games and the Texans Patriots game. While at the second Astros games a red Sox fan leaned over and said "man, there are a lot of you Houston fans here this weekend" I go "yeah man, Astros and texans are playing here this weekend and I think we travel pretty well as a fan base" The guy responds " Yeah y'all do, but I bet all the gay bars are are empty in Houston this weekend" Anyways I laughed but I bet people find that offensive this day in age. Roll tide, go stros
Was not planning on seeing much of Boston and a side trip got cancelled. Saw Fenway within minutes of getting off the plane, didn't have Astros gear, sadly.
That guy qualifies as a professional comic in Boston. If you had responded “Red Sox suck cawks” they’d still be talking today about the time the reincarnation of Richard Pryor came to town. And they would have murdered you.
