    wow lol.
So Holiday is the winner of this offseason.

it also has player option AND bonus to get it to 150.

Bad news for Toronto. Now Lowry will be asking the same.

They are probably thin at Guard.

    Ridiculous.

I've always thought that Jrue Holiday wasn't very good. Like a top 20 point guard. So he's not bad, but is totally replaceable.

Anyway this is just another step towards the Pelicans relocating to Seattle.

Step 1) Burden themselves with bad salaries
    Step 2) Lose Boogie
    Step 3) Lose AD
Step 4) No one goes to any games in NO
Step 5) Ship team to Seattle overnight

Im guessing that was the quickest signing in free agency history after the proposal.

Pelican's FO is insane. They gave Solomon freaking Hill a 4 year 40 million dollars contract so it is understandable Holiday gets 5 year 125 million.

LOL, some GMs of NBA are just stupid.

Pay him or watch him wak & I believe(heard) only would have had something like $13M(?) in cap space. Probably not George Hill. Maybe Derrick Rose? Darren Collison?

But of course that's also previous from bad decisons like paying Omer Asik, Solomon Hill, E'Twaun Moore & Alexis Ajinca.

There were a few big names in this free agency for point guards, but this was probably one of the worst years for point guards in free agency. You could always get a good one for a decent price, but there were not many this year.

    Low suppy and high demand.

yeah, apparently they don't have a "stop digging" philosophy over there in NO.

Obviously what you have been doing the past few years won't work why not sign a different pg for cheaper and move on?

It's sad that this will waste a chunk of Anthony Davis' prime years when he should have just stayed away from that contract extension because Pelicans were never committed to properly rebuilding. They gave away picks in stupid trades that have left the roster hollow. Just look at their draft history since 2012:

    2012: #1 Anthony Davis
2013: #6 Nerlens Noel (traded to Philadelphia for Jrue Holiday)
2014: #10 Elfrid Payton (traded to Philadelphia for Jrue Holiday)
2015: #18 Sam Dekker (traded to Houston for Omer Asik)
2016: #6 Buddy Hield (traded to Sacramento for DeMarcus Cousins)
2017: #10 Zach Collins (traded to Sacramento for DeMarcus Cousins)

The Pelicans haven't developed a single first round pick since drafting Davis. Instead they traded four lottery picks for the privilege to massively overpay Holiday and watch Cousins possibly walk in free agency next summer because there is an arms race going on in the West.

This is one of the problem with so many franchises. They get lucky in the draft and land a superstar, but fail to patiently rebuild and develop more talent around him. So many GMs panic and hit the win now button like there is no tomorrow. It happened with LeBron in Cleveland the first time around and it will happen to Davis in New Orleans when he decides to leave in 2020.

And yet people wonder why players collude to build super teams?

Well the Rockets found a trading partner for Ryan Anderson at least.

Yes, I only watched a handful Pelican's games with Holiday playing, but there is no doubt in my mind that he is NOT a NBA starting quality PG.

    Is the Pelican's crazy?

He's a starting material pg but he's just massively overpaid at this point.

This feels like a horrible move.
