The level of competition is like high school.

JR could put up 50 in an NBA game If he was given the touches.

    I'm not surprised...

I hope he finds a team in the NBA that gives him those touches. Smith is simply fun to watch play even if the result is not as grand as others.

Faked it to come back to NBA

Shameful behavior. Reflects poorly on Americans.

Really? JR Smith is like the last player who should be deemed representative of American players.

And JR can't shoot over 47% from the floor in the 5 games he played. Not even 40% without this game, which btw was against a team with no foreign player (all other 16 teams have 2-3) and whose best player Wang Zhizhi is injured.

As been pointed out JR can score 40 in NBA if getting enough touches. However, there's a reason he is not a starter in the NBA.

Meanwhile Aaron Brooks is doing quite poorly in China considering his salary. His team which is expected by most to steamroll the competition lost 2 out of 3 after he joined. Of course the explanation may be he wants to play like garbage so as to return to NBA.

The Chinese aren't that bad. I'd say a moderately-efficient college team would be more accurate. Maybe low-end D-League team.

Really? judgemental individuals should generally look at themselves before speaking on someone else's character.. if he truly lied to get out of his contract,I wont support that but I can't speak on him as a man.. besides, it was self-precipitated by china with their communist stipulations.. like D Will, this was a fad until the lockout ended

D-league isn't that great. Mike Harris is the D-league MVP but in China he's just another foreign player. In fact last year a bunch of China rejects were All-Stars in D-league: Strawberry, O'Bryant, Sean Williams. Also last year, 2 All-Stars from D-league (Courtney Sims and Walker Russell) left D-league for China in the same season and were widely considered some of the worst foreign players to ever play in China. Moreover, over the past decade the D-league has sent a bunch of all-star teams or "real" teams to play in China and always loses to the Chinese National Team without Yao Ming from what I remember.

I'd say a mid-level D-league team can be one of the top 3 teams in China if the Chinese teams don't have imports. But keep in mind Chinese teams (with the exception of 1 team) all have at least 2 marginal NBA talents who are at least on par with the top 10 D-league players. The CBA has been going on for 2 weeks and already we've seen 35 former NBA players suit up.

I don't think Brooks is THAT stupid.

There are not going to be many teams willing to give him a contract, let alone a nice one. If he continues to suck in China NO team will offer him a contract when he does return to the NBA mid season.

Not sure what your definition of communism is but I'm pretty sure it doesn't include making players fulfill the contracts that they voluntarily signed.

Someone will give him a veteran minimum contract to be their off the bench scoring PG. Worth a shot.

If he continues to suck in China, then I don't think any team will risk giving him a contract. Chemistry issue, integrating him in the offense and all of that.

But that's only assuming if Brooks continues to suck.

In other news, Mike Harris continues to thrive in China. Working hard in preparation of his March 2012 return for his 10th stint with the Rockets.
