It looks like the Wizards are currently in buy mode and looking into a Smith trade:

Please merge with other J-Smoove threads if necessary.

So they basically said 'anyone who you might be interested in is off limits'?

    Basically.

Atlanta has the 6th seed, so its not like they're tanking. Kevin Seraphin and draft pick with 1-thru-5 protection probably won't help their playoff chances and future cause.

Or Wiz might think they can somehow fool Atlanta to thinking that Jan Vesely still has Andre Kirilenko/Josh Smith upside.

A Josh Smith deal would depend mostly if ATL DOESNT think he'll resign with them. (I don't know the sign & trade rules they have now for unrestricted free agents)

why would you trade for someone with the possibility of being someone you are trading? That would be like us trading Harden for a player who could be like harden in the future.

If this is the kind of offers Atlanta is getting for Josh Smith, it would seem he doesn't hold nearly the value that a lot of people around here seem to think he has. I know that Atlanta will get low-balled somewhat because, much like the Dwight Howard situation, there is no guarantee that Smith will re-up with whichever team he is traded, but DAMN! If Smith was valued by GM's anywhere near as much as he is by so many posters on this forum, you'd think teams would be willing to give up A LOT more than that to have his bird rights.

I wonder if Smith will get a max contract - or even close to it - this offseason.

I don't like Smith AT ALL at anywhere near a max contract, but I might be interested if he can be had at 8 million per year.

They traded away Mcgee and Nick Young, which were great starts. But they will probably want Beasley, Smith, Royce White, and Andrew Bynum....

Why would both Nene and Okafor be off limits? I don't think many teams even want Nene or Okafor.

Especially when they're bringing in Smith? Are they going to play him at the 3?

I think they mean "off limit" from Atlanta side because they don't want to take back those two bad contracts.

Because if they are off limits then maybe someone will covet them?

If Atlanta wants to go through with this (not sure why they would), it would be something like this:

    Atlanta receives:
    first round pick
    Ariza
    Vessly
    Crawford

Atlanta gets two instant help guys, and assets for the future (assuming they see value in Vessly).

Cole Aldrich, Marcus Morris, PPat, Toney Douglas, and Greg Smith are ALL OFF LIMITS then.

No they don't. They mean Washington is TELLING Atlanta they are off-limits.

Wizards - Pick(s), Vesley, Singleton, Booker

Jan Vesely may very well be the worst player in the league. just awful.

and yes, i have watched a few wizards games this year... the only thing Vesely is capable of doing at a high level is dunking.
