Did anyone else notice how frequently JL was standing up and encouraging the team tonight ? I wonder if he has taken on a larger role this season. Perhaps he knows how to coach defense ?

Anyways , its something to keep an eye on in future games i think. JB would stand up more frequently than a normal defensive assistant and would be giving direction all the time. Maybe guys need that until the scheme becomes fully ingrained.

Lucas has been in a developmental role from what I have read. His resume goes all the way up to NBA head coach several times. Seeing him more active is a good thing, IMO.

    I loved it.

What's hilarious, is there's a certain poster on this forum who thinks what JL did is SOFT, and he'd send JL home and banish him from the team until he quit doing that.

Hahaha, I mean I was mystified when this dude tried to argue that point.

I remember Lucas as both a player and a head coach.

As head coach he did this innovative thing of not participating in time out huddles. Said players know what to do and can discuss it themselves. But once the team started losing he got right back in there yelling and chewing ass.

As a player, he was the first (that I saw) to go to a teammate who missed a free throw and talk to him; high five and little pep talk. Believe it or not, there was a time when players took free throws in rapid succession then got right back to the game. Now days there is a small convention after every free throw, that started with Lucas.

Now that I think back, I also remember him as a junkie. A few backslides, then he got himself out of that. Started helping others in the same predicament. Never met the man, but suspect he is a good guy. Had a lot of impact on the game and life around him.

Oh man, now I'm thinking about Lew Lloyd and Mitch Wiggins.
