I just read the Jimmy Wynns number is going to be retired by the Astros...So wonder what Jason Lane thinks since he is number 24 right now. Guess he has to give up his jersey number. I doubt he'll be that dispointed about all the times being optioned back to AAA, sitting on the bench, and years of waiting for a starting position to emerge. That # must have some fond memories.
Yeah, since he was wearing it at the time of the retirement he can continue to wear it, but no one else will. This is the norm with these things.
The Toy Cannon was my favorite Astro as a youngster. I still remember listening to Lowell Pass (sp?) calling those games on the radio like it was yesterday. Props to Wynn for the long over-due acclaim.
