Well its 30 years today that Jimi died. I think music misses him now more than ever. He was so far ahead of his time that guitarists are still trying to catch up to him.

Just wanted to pay my respects

Speaking of Hendrix...did anyone catch that Showtime Original movie on the man last night? I thought it was pretty interesting... it apparently was pretty truthful as a former band member collaborated with them on it. It was amazing what kind of evil management Jimi had running his business. The movie showed them in total control of Jimi and in a negative light. It alluded that they were scamming Jimi's money and screwing him around bigtime. Plus, they wanted to control Jimi and his music. I'm not much on Jimi's history but the man appeared to be depressed for the reasons I mentioned and the fact that he worked hard bringing in the money but never appeared to have any. Now, whether that was all the manager's fault or Jimi was truly blowing all that money...I dunno. Anybody care to comment? I think Jimi's misery may have driven him more into drugs as he had no control because he was under contract with some evil, greedy people. It's a shame, too, because everyone knows Jimi was all about the music. Yet, the managers wanted to dictate to Jimi that he play his older style of music and not let him evolve his music. He definitely had some battles going there about his music. I think, in the end, he got to play the music he truly loved but, when greedy SOBs try to control you for financial reasons, it made him depressed and out of control of his own life.

At least...that is what I got out of the movie. They said they were being truthful about it.

Saw it surf. That is pretty much what happened. Jimi wanted to expand his music, only Mike Jeffery (Jimi's manager) wanted more of the same.

Jimi just wanted to play music and have someone take care of the money side of it. Mike Jefferey basically used Jimi, screwing him over royally.

The sad part is, no one stepped in to try to save Jimi. It seems everyone used him for one thing or another. Jimi couldn't say no to anyone, and in the end, it eventually killed him.
