I really think he is the real deal. I thought he was an amazing find when he was drafted. I think now that he will get his chance in Indiana, we are going to see what he is capable of.

I agree. He has been an event looking for a venue for a long time.

Man, I would have liked to ink him up this year.

U gotta laugh at Portland! They had a great shot blocker in Cato, they had a good back-up in Grant and they also had a versitle Garnett like player in Jemaine and they used Arvidas instead. They are just stupid to loose them all to get Kemp (fat over-paid loser) and Davis (average player with rebounding, Grant is Davis plus more!) What were they honestly thinking?

Honestly, I think the Pacers are poised to only get better, like Houston. They have a great young corps of talent. They have a few veterans (Miller esp.) that can lead them, if they so choose.

O'Neal is going to emerge as an 18 and 10 guy this year. Bender has shown promise, as has Harrington. We all know what Croshere and Rose can do.

Indiana may be better this year than last.

Essentially the top two players to come out of college the last couple of years are Duncan, Carter, and Francis.

You guys better hope Kemp doesn't blow up this year, or Portland will look like the smartest team in the league. [IMG]

I seriously doubt that the Pacers will be better this year than they were last year unless O'Neal absolutely goes bonkers and wins MVP or something. ;-)

IMO Portland has too many cheifs and not enough indians. There are simply too many guys that need the ball in their hands to be effective. The time bomb is ticking and set to explode.

Kemp can't afford to blow up anymore. Sean, for the love of God man! Put down the double Whopper with extra bacon and cheese with biggie fries with extra grease and re-discover the weight room already [IMG]

And oh, I hope O'Neal has a lousy year, so I don't have to read a thousand "why didn't we get O'Neal instead of Cato threads" [IMG]

I recognize Jermaine O'Neal has tons of talent and hasn't really had an opportunity to prove his worth yet, but I'm still hesitant to call him a star. He's been in the league for 4-5 seasons now, and I think its time he struts his stuff before people call him a bust. In the thin East, he may actually be a force down low! Still, he hasn't proved anything yet.

HOOP-T, looks like HoopsTV agrees with you. http://www.hoopstv.com/HTVHoop_Hip_Hop2468.html?ref=espn

I have seen 3 Pacer games so far and he looks awesome. He has 3 double-doubles so far. He is tough in the lane because of his variety of moves and quickness.

His weakness is when he has the ball on the perimeter. I have noticed a tendency to make bad decisions such as, take ill-advised shots and dribble too much.

He is a very nice defensive player as well, who should be among the leaders in blocked shots.

    Damn!

Why didn't we trade for Jermaine instead of Cato??

    Oops, sorry, momentary lapse there...

O'Neal had good numbers in his opener, and against the trees in SA.
