LOL, Air Langhi has suddenly emerged as the leader of the LOFs. They came out in droves to sing praise to his "Lin over Felton" post.
Article failed to mention defense which Lin is far superior to felton. Knicks are getting killed by opposing guards this year. Ironically Lin's defense was one of the biggest complaints last year.
Felton has no value ....no one on the Knicks has trade value other than Anthony. Felton plays zero defense and is shooting horribly.....the Knicks are a average team thats falling apart. This team will fall to perhaps 5 or 6 th in the conference and be out after the first series. Then what? It was a horrible decision to let Lin go.
Lin is a player with considerable upside, he has the potential to be a top 7 pg in the future , maybe even top 5 at some point. When you try to determine what type of upside you want to assign a player you look at a combination of tools and his mental makeup etc... So for an elite player, you would look for an elite tool. Lin has a devastating first step. His first step is truly elite, wasn't he clocked the fastest his year in the draft, faster than John wall's. He seems to have a pretty good handle as long as he doesnt try to get up in the air and try to do something stupid. Lin's speed is his best tool, but it alone isnt enough to give him top 5 upside. His court vision has flashed top 10 potential, and he has spurts where he is a true hot shooter. His averages are terrible, but he can have games where he shoots at above .45 from the 3. At his absolute peak, the maximum projection of Lin is sort of a taller tony parker. He plays a lot like the young parker did, you can tell he has some european in his game. Its probably from his economics classes in Harvard. He has shown the ability to play like that type of player ,that if you give him space he will blow by you. He is trying to develop the skill to also be a player who can kill you if you leave him open off ball. This is what type of player i think McHale has had Lin work on becoming. He constantly has Lin playing off ball to Harden and work at playing off ball and cutting. Lin does have a strong mental makeup and has shown a killer instinct too. I just hope Mchale is not too hard on him . Trying to be like Popovich is one thing, but actually finding the medium where you are hard on a player but you dont break his confidence is tough to find. The one skill that Lin really has to work on, is staying healthy and being able to drive. He just needs to pick and chose his spots to blow by people. That will hopefully come with more experience and a better more trustworthy shot. In a prefect world Lin has the ability to play the same style as a slightly taller and very slightly worse shooting version of Tony Parker. That would make him a top 5 pg, no ?
Not really. They were already over the cap and they're scheduled to pay the luxury tax this season. The only financial implication was the owner's money. The majority of Knicks fans/radio are now saying that they should have kept Lin or signed Lin and Felton. They don't understand why mngt gave him a 4th year player option either.
The Knicks have done this crap for years and years....its who they are...they will never win anything
Honestly, we need to wait till the season is over to gauge anything. A first round defeat by the Knicks means failure for what they tried to do (basically for letting Lin go). Houston making it to the playoffs or even passing a round will just add insult to injury for the Knicks.
To be fair, the fans and business opportunities Lin bring in should easily make up whatever the pay differences between the two. Of course it is not Felton's faults.
To make a judgement on Lin's value to a NBA franchise, one needs to consider his business value and the additional fan base he brings. It may seem unfair to other players but other players don't have to face the unique challenges and scrutinies being the lone Asian player on the NBA.
He's the worst 3 point shooter (among point guards) in the entire NBA, so he's got nowhere to go but up. Not worth it's own thread, but a pretty damning statistic. http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/p.../threePointFieldGoalPct/position/point-guards
Theres a second page there buddy, but yes, we all know hes a bad three point shooter, but hes been improving since the beginning of the season.
actually Monta Ellis is the worst 3 pt shooter (among PGs) in the NBA, despite him hitting the game winner last night.
