    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/21071248/brooklyn-nets-pg-jeremy-lin-suffers-apparent-knee-injury

After crumbling to the court and leaving the Brooklyn Nets' season-opening loss with an injury, point guard Jeremy Lin will undergo a right knee evaluation in New York on Thursday, league sources told ESPN.

There's concern that Lin suffered a significant injury, league sources said. Nevertheless, the franchise will await test results upon its return home from an opening-night game in Indiana.

Lin landed awkwardly on a drive to the basket in the fourth quarter of the Nets' 140-131 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, and his immediate emotional reaction seemed to indicate he feared a serious injury.

Lin scored 18 points, and the Nets' starting shooting guard, D'Angelo Russell, had 30.

If Lin is lost for a significant period of time, Russell would move into the starting point guard role and Allen Crabbe likely would become the Nets' starting shooting guard.

Both players were acquired in trades this summer. Russell and Lin were expected to play together in the Nets' backcourt this season, but Russell, 21, is considered the franchise's point guard of the future.

Sucks about the injury. I hope he recovers to full strength.

Having said that, all I could pay attention to in the replay was his wierd ass hair.

    Sad.

The pain you see on his face has to do more with disappointment than the physical pain.

    Hope he recovers well.

Hoping the best for Lin. You hate to see this happen to anyone... it's extremely painful and dashes dreams.

This and the Gordon Hayward injury -- both happening in their season openers -- are a reminder that this can happen to any athlete at any time.

Hate to see this. Really hoping he recovers and it's not that serious.

NBA players don't k ow how to strengthen their knees. Weight training is just as important as skills training.

What is this, the 2nd long-term injury on the opening night? Not as gruesome as Hayward but still. And this is the year when the NBA tweaked the schedule to prevent injury...

Seems a lot of what goes on in the summer must have something to translate to the season, conditioning? Too much or too little? Back too soon?

Interesting in both injuries, they were bumped in mid-air, and came down off-balance - Hayward was bumped quite hard, Lin pushed slightly in the back, enough to make the landing awkward.

It's not just about strengthening the vulnerable areas, but also how to absorb and deal with contact... Not sure how they'd train for that.

Bones got brittle from all that skills continuous training they do. You have to rest and strength train.

These guys do a ton of exercises to strengthen their muscles (check YouTube etc), nothing prepares you for these falls that lead to major injuries, especially in Hayward's case.
If the landing angle is wrong, you're effed no matter what.

Exactly, injuries can happen any night.
Hope this one is not serious.
