Isn't this due mostly to Conley? Maybe it's coincidental, but I recall seeing that the one time this year that Utah was playing dominant basketball was when he was out with an injury. When he was there early in the year and when he returned from injury, they've been awful.

Was he playing during their hot streak? If the chemistry is off with him added to the mix, that's an expensive letdown for the Jazz.

Let's be honest, we have seen the future of the NBA and it is called 5 out. 2 years from now when everybody is running it and the Rockets' advantage has disappeared you can all quote me.

The Jazz fools should have sold high on Gobert when they had the chance.

If you watched the LP broadcast of the last Rockets game, the Jazz fans still overwhelmingly consider the Rockets to be their greatest, most hated rival.

They did an internet poll of like "who is our biggest rival" - Denver, Houston, Lakers, Celtics(?), Sixers(?) and it was like 76% of people saying Houston. Even accounting for the bias of doing it on a Rockets game day, it's pretty compelling.

Bro. We got Harden and Westbrook. Talent defines strategy. You can try to play like GSW but with no Steph and Klay there is no point.. You can play inside-out but without Shaq and Kobe it won't be as deadly. You can't just go 5 out and expect it to be working

    Ehh, yes and no.
Conley has aged to almost Joe Johnson levels this season
Mitchel just isn't a #1 option super star you build your team around. Hes a good number #2 or excellent #3
Gobert is becoming obsolete and teams are minimizing his impact
Role players have just been struggling.

The Jazz hit lightning in a bottle at the start of the season, but their issues are coming ten-fold to the surface as the season progressed and have since come crashing down to right where they belong relative to their team talent.

Literally the opposite on how this Rockets season has played out, and I ****ing love it.

it's not conley's fault, they are playing him out of position. he should be starting at the pf position.

The league has figured out how to make Gobert useless. Big men that can't shoot are useless in this league now.

You can't shoot all 3's like that! Midrange will never die! You need a post game

Fast forward, those things are dead/dying.

5 out is going to be the future, just because of scarcity.

What's easier to find, a 6-5 3 & D player who can switch and guard the perimeter? Or a 7-footish player who can protect the rim and guard the perimeter and who doesn't clog the lane on offense?

The Karl Anthony Towns and Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo types who can both be big and do all of the things are really hard to find, gifted perimeter players are easier to find. And so you're going to find that teams are going to make the same calculation the Rockets did -> we're better off having a good offense and conceding a few putbacks then paying some lane clogger.

    No they are not.

The initial plan was to bench Mike Conley. They very quickly (within a few hours) turned course and decided to bench Joe Ingles.

That is NOT a sign of a team being "fine". There is real discord here and the FO/Coaching Staff are feeling the heat.

If he is, I wouldn’t mind him coaching the Rockets next season if D’Antoni’s not back. Snyder is a huge proponent of positionless ball, very good at x’s and o’s, and is well respected among NBA players.

EG and Pick for Mitchell... they wouldn’t do it but hey just throwing ideas hoping they stick.

That said, Mitchell would be awesome off the bench in this system.

Meh, the Jazz have done this two seasons in a row. They suddenly start winning a ton of games when they play the shitty teams. Then they get back on the tough schedule and they fall back to normal. Give them credit, they win the games they are suppose to win which is why they make the playoffs.

Donovan Mitchell, right now, is basically what Eric Gordon was when he was traded to New Orleans for CP3. Except he is smaller, a slightly better slasher, while EG a better shooter. He is overrated compared to what the NBA as whole seems to think about him currently imo.
