They mentioned this on 610 this morning. Babin said he he preferred to play 4-3 DE and just rush the passer, and didn't like having to do all of the things that 3-4 OLB's had to do in coverage etc. He told Kubiak to either play him or cut him. He's not coming back.
Eh, not if 1) he commands too much money on a salary cap strapped team and 2) he doesn't fit into the character mold of this team. Babin is a turd and I don't think they're going to risk him messing with the chemistry of this team.
I agree, surprised so many people still want the guy. He was pretty much a bust with the Texans, had a few big seasons as a journeyman with other teams that netted him a big contract and now is getting cut. Babin isn't worth the effort it would take to get him and just trying to teach him to get into Wade's system is time better off served picking up a younger player that is hungry.
The guy would be playing at a position we need and would be playing in front of a large audience the rest of the year which would be enough for him to garner attention from a team in need this offseason. I think it makes sense to him from a career standpoint and for us in terms of a depth standpoint.
He won't even start here over Barwin and Merciless, and he'd have to adjust to being a 3-4 OLB again. Someone will pay him more than we are willing to play 4-3 DE and start.
I'm not saying he will start. I'm saying he will provide us depth and he will be on a national stage. He will play downs. There's no question about that. I don't think we would retain him after the season, which is why I said it would make sense for him to come to a competitive team to showcae his game for 5-8 games (hopefully 8). But if we're paying him the minimum to play for the remainder of the season I see no harm in that.
I'm sure Wade is salivating for a player who only plays the pass and runs right by running backs. Cover the tight end, forget that, that's not in his job description even though Wade's OLBs have to do that at times.
I've not seen Barwin do any of those things you mentioned this season and he still can't sniff the QB.
The guy doesn't want to play in the 3-4. Plus, there is No way the Texans bring him back because of his locker room presence. Drop it.
The guy wants to get sacks and wants to win. It's a purely football move to provide depth which we need going into the playoffs. I don't think he is going to come into this locker room and cause problems because the leaders we have are going to put the kibosh on that as soon as it starts.
He said he doesn't like to play OLB in 3-4 systems. Not sure why he would pick the Texans unless all other 4-3 teams do not want him.
If he can help get to the SB . . .then yea I don't wanna . . his character . . being the reason we lost the SB Rocket River
I think the management for the eagles is a real cancer. 90-100 mil for a qb sitting in the bench. I know they are going to cut him, but damn, worst contract ever. Add agsumwa or whatever his name is. Even the move to get dameco didnt work out.
Who said I was defending Barwin and his anemic production this year? Just because Barwin is having a bad year doesn't mean Wade is desperate enough to get an underperforming one trick pony to play out of position just to get another pass rush outside of Watt. Btw, Barwin was playing the WILL OLB, the SAM OLB (Brooks Reed) covered the tight end. Now that Reed is out, Barwin will slide over to the SAM and Mercilus will be at the WILL.
