    Good peoples.

Guard James Harden was named Wednesday one of five finalists for the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, an honor given each year by the Professional Basketball Writers Association to a player, coach or athletic trainer for their contribution to the community.

The Mavericks' J.J. Barea, Thunder's Carmelo Anthony, Heat's Dwyane Wade and Warriors' Kevin Durant are the other finalists.

Harden visited with Hurricane Harvey survivors and donated $1 million to Mayor Sylvester Turner's relief fund. He had made several visits to schools impacted by Harvey, raised funds for a 3 The Harden Way scholarship fund with a two-day JH-Town event and donated $100,000 to aid students in need at Texas Southern.

"It's what I've been building on," Harden said. "Obviously, being established now, making an impact on the community, and try to make an impact on the world, it's great. It's getting noticed. The world is noticing a little bit. I have to keep going. While I'm here and I have this platform, try to make the best of it in terms of impact."

Hopefully Harden wins. I was at his charity tournament, was a great event independent of his Harvey work.

They should split the award for who gave the most and one for who put the most time in

I didn't think Harden got enough credit for donating a million dollars to Hurricane relief. Good for Jim.

I'd rather see Harden win this than the MVP. His generous donation to Houston was huge and its impact is felt by many. No one else did anything like that this year other than Gerald Green. Those two both deserve this award.
