The whole team stunk and should be ashamed of their performance in game 6. D'Antoni was as culpable as Harden, and when you get beat by 40 in a team sport, the whole squad didn't compete. But James's play was strong all year but they need other star players to beat the Elites. Looks like Morey is hard at work on it, CP3 down and Melo to go.
For real, also the season the Rockets got to the WCF, everyone seems to forget Howard hurting his knee when Smith rolled into it, if he didn't get his knee hurt, that series was going to be a lot closer, hell Harden still almost had that game. I'm not saying houston could have won for sure but it was going to be a lot better. I honestly think Harden was just fatigued and maybe even injured in that game 6 Spurs, regardless this season with/without Melo is very exciting. I mean come on... the Rockets after Hakeem era could have easily been junk like the 76ers/suns etc etc, and instead they've been relevant more times than not. Heck w/ Harden we've already gotten further than TMac/Yao ever did (obviously injuries derailed those runs), but Harden is the best player the Rockets have had since the Dream and crazies from the woodwork want to trade him, gtfo. Hahah, yeah, trade the yearly MVP candidate, thankfully they're not running the team...
This is a blanket statement & false. There are a number of games we have all seen where the losing team just played horrible, while the other couldnt miss. Its sports. But Harden simply quit. He stopped competing at the end of game 5. Game 6 he never lifted a finger. When your ONLY star player decides he doesnt want to play anymore, the team will get blown out. There was absolutely no justification for Harden's game 6 efforts (regardless of how good his regular season was)
Why do you have only one star player? How many star players does Golden St. have? How many star players does Cleveland have? Hell the Spurs had a better overall roster (& better coach) than Htown last year. Basketball is a team sport and if a bad effort by ONE GUY IN A TEAM SPORT causes you to get beat by 40 then management has work to do. Obviously Morey agrees, CP3 down and working on Melo.
Think it's legit because Houston has been out front on the money twice now. They are seeking missiles and delivering, twice. What is not to like. And then you compare it to OKC and Einsteins relativity theory remains sound.
Thank You. Also so many people that dog Harden are strangely very big TMac fans Harden has won more playoff series in his tenure .. . .as the Rockets had in the near previous 15 years Rocket River
Why, the dream for 2016/17 was finished when Nene went down. Harden knew it just like each one of us. Team was too thin in the front court to continue. To be honest I didn't even make the effort to watch that game 6 because without Nenes inside presence the team was just pretending to compete, I knew it was over at that moment. It was a good season and Harden did an MVP campaign, he got cheated again, but you can't control people's bias. It was a fun season. And I enjoyed what the team accomplished. But to each their own opinions; if you don't like Harden the basketball player it's fine!
Yea we're definitely 2 different types of fans then. I expect the players of my favorite team to compete 100% regardless of what the situation is. Quitting is NEVER a option. Regardless of who was injured game 6 was the most winnable game of the series. No Leonard, no Parker & IN HOUSTON. To make a concious effort to give the game away rubs the die hard Rocket fan the wrong way
