There is no center that plays like Hakeem since Hakeem retired. Matter of fact many centers today couldn't even play like Ewing or Shaq, So in this case, the talent among centers today has gone backwards IMO.

Talent hasn’t gone backwards with centers you have centers or bigs with guard skills
Look at a Jokic, Nurkic, Kristaps,KD, Davis,Cousins, Lauri, KAT, List can go on... in nba back to basket centers have died bc they are inefficient.- Morey proved that with Dwight. Centers are as skilled as ever this is era of unicorns. In that era we can only say 3 centers were better than all centers today. Shaq and Hakeem, Ewing . You can’t tell me anyone else would be a star today. It’s just today’s nba needs 7 footers with wing/guard talent.

That’s only 4. Plus I was giving examples to the games of centers from then. In this era 7 footers play like guards. They are skilled differently for a more faster pace game. I named like 10 of those unicorn bigs in today’s game.

    Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo

I get what your saying. 90s centers were about paint control on offense but especially on defense. Since less 3s were shot then more priority was focused closer to the basket. Today's game is much more spread out. The emphasis on paint control has shifted with more help provided by both forward positions. So centers need to be able to pull their weight doing other things outside the paint like passing or pnr.

The issue is though someone has to protect the paint otherwise it would be a layup and dunk drill all game. Everyone can't just stay parked at the 3 point line. That becomes too predictable.

The centers today would get bullied in the paint by 90s centers. They are much skinnier now to be more mobile but that costs bully muscle. If your 3s aren't dropping...why are you on the court?

Rudy Gobert would have been a great center in the 90s. Yao Ming could play in both eras...minus being injury prone that is. And Dwight was never an efficient back to the basket player. The art of post play is not inefficient, it just has to be game planned better in today’s game like the midrange jumpshot.

James Harden is to Jordan what David Robinson is to Hakeem. You can say they have similar stats, but the heart of a champion and hunger to win is not something that can be quantified in PER or whatever the f else you want to bring to the table. Harden still has time to prove us wrong, but so far, the eggs he has laid in some of the biggest games puts him in Admiral level. Hopefully he reaches Dream level when it's all said and done, but so far, he has given us a lot of reasons to doubt.

Big positive going forward is Harden's clutch-ability this season. He's owned 4th Qs.

Maybe this translates into the playoffs.

You can try and spin this anyway you want in your clueless mind, however by the time MJ was 28 he had won two rings, he was a 1st team all NBA SIX times (one yr 2nd team and another yr he was injured) and was voted MVP three times and also voted DPOY one yr as well.

    Yeah Harden is better.

This hinders the enjoyment we have of watching Harden play well because are way too quick and anxious to 'crown' him without letting him earn anything.
This happens every year though. People said Tmac/Yao > Kobe/Shaq .

Homerism without realism diminishes true fandom.
